Dynamat Advice...

Alright, so I have had the inside panel of my hatch off for a while now because the latch is broken and sometimes the only way to pop it is from the inside. Once I replace the latch I want to dynamat the hatch before I pop the panel back in...

Now on to my question....

How Important is this rubbery stuff that is stuck to the hatch already?

Can I remove that and replace it with dynamat? I have never used dynamat before and I don't know if I can substitute that piece with it, or I have to use them in conjunction with each other. I dont wanna remove that if its a vital part that keeps moisture or whatever out (which I think is why that is there)....

Re: Dynamat Advice...

Im not 100% sure what it actually does, but I assume it's some cheap ass method of sound deadening and maybe a moisture barrier membrane? It sucks whatever it is, dynamat will do all that 10x better, lol

Re: Dynamat Advice...

Yes, Fatmat.

That's what I used.

Make sure you get "mega mat" as it's 100% true Butyl which doesn't stink when it get's really hot in the summer.

I bought the 100 ft² kit. Comes with a roller, utility knife, and 2 rolls 18" x 33'
That is enough to cover everything in your jeep with a couple layers thick. I stripped almost the whole Jeep down to bare metal. Really easy to work with, But wear some work gloves as the aluminum backing can be very sharp.

I also had a propane heater going in the garage with the rolls close to it to make it nice and pliable.
