Question Factory speaker upgrade question

I have an 05 JGCL rocky mountain edition with the Boston system and I just purchased Focal Access 165a1 Components for the front and Focal Access 165c1 coaxials for the rear doors, My question is, I am going to run them off of deck power until I can find an amp but the BA system is amplified, is it not? If so, how many watts is the amp

Re: Factory speaker upgrade question

The BA amp is located in the left rear quarter panel trim (right above the drivers side rear wheel). As for the wattage, Im not sure on that. I would first suggest trying the plug and play method, If you dont think your new speakers are getting enough power then you can look into the headache of bypassing the amp and installing a new one. Also, the factory BA amp has built in crossovers, meaning you will not need the crossovers supplied with your component speakers. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Re: Factory speaker upgrade question

Also, it may be worthwhile to consider adding a small subwoofer and amp. The added base will allow you to turn the low's down on your midrange speakers and amp, allowing them to produce much richer mids and highs at higher volumes without distortion. I recently added a 10 inch sub and amp to my GC. After adjusting my midrange speakers to the added base from my sub, i was very suprised at how much clearer they became without the stress of producing low-range signals.
