Fan rig.

K, so I'm running a kenwood Kac-7204 and a 15" punch 1 off the factory stereo. Wasn't for sure how good it would sound but I have to say the speaker line inputs aren't to bad, especially with the signal sensing so I don't have to run a remote.

Anyway, I have my amp under the cargo mat and was actually suprised that it fit under there. Now, my problem is that it gets hot and shuts off, so my solution was to just run fans back there. So, I grabbed my good old xbox 360 intercooler and ripped it apart, then proceeded to take apart the amp. The amp already has two very small fans so I just spliced straight into those fans and it worked like a charm. Now the question is what should I do with these fans because they vibrate like a mother. In the mean time I simply took electrical tape and taped them to the amp, but I just wanted to make sure that they gave the amp enough air, in which they do. So, anybody got any ideas? Pics below, please don't laugh at my rigged up fans

Re: Fan rig.

Computer fans are great for this is you ever need or want to do it again.

I have used fans to vent an entire enclosure, but never directly on an amp before. If you want to mount them on that amp I would just seal them on there with some gasket sealer and call it a day.

Re: Fan rig.

Well I it doesn't need to be attached to the amp, that was just the only place I could put it to test it and keep it quite.

Re: Fan rig.

i would find a different place to mount the amp.......some place where air can circulate better, i would think that would be easier than tryin to rig up a bunch of fans, and would prolly look alot nicer if you do a good job

Re: Fan rig.

under the back seat might work. i know on the drivers side they have some module or something but nothing on the right side. at least in my 07 WK.

2 BIG bolts to find out. 18MM IIRC.

Thumbs up Re: Fan rig.

Looks like you are right there is nothing under the right seat. Looks like I'll have a little project to do tomorrow.
