Re: FINALLY! After months of waiting...

I had the 5901 installed which is the same thing without the color remote (-$200) and mine cost less than $400 CAD. (Bypass, shock sensor, Jeep "rock" key included)Which is like $350 US, Although I had a friend install it.

I sure as hell hope you didn't pay $1300!!!!!!

Re: FINALLY! After months of waiting...

lol you had a friend do it. Lets see how long it lasts. Hope your friend works for a shop. Here in the US if you do it yourself and something goes wrong your fooked. If i do it in my shop and something goes wrong, im insured. BIG difference there. Shock sensors come with the alarm so i hope he didnt "throw that in" as a favor. At $1300 installed for what you got you did just fine. You didnt get a great deal you didnt over pay you paid exactly what you should have.

Ya my friend owns a pretty successful car audio shop. He know's what he's doing, But I wanted to learn how to install it. So i'm glad I had someone that could show me. And it's not hard, if you can solder and read a wiring diagram then you can install a remote starter.

Sorry my bad, it's not a shock sensor, it's a tilt sensor. So mine was:

Alarm/remote starter shipped from ebay $260 CAD
Transponder key bypass and door locks $60 CAD
507M Tilt sensor shipped from ebay $60 CAD

So $380 in parts for mine. Granted I dont have the 530T installed for the windows, But that's just $50 and couple of wires.

My point isn't that he got ripped off, I know how that business works. It's just shitty that 50 % of his install is labor. Labor that anyone can do.

Re: FINALLY! After months of waiting...

The tilt is a total waste of $ i dont even sell them thats how useless they are. You got decent prices on everything else and no it's not hard to install as long as you have and know how to read the vehicle specific guides. Soldering is a plus but you really dont have to. Anything inside can just be taped up good. I then make a harness and zip tie everything. Outside, id always solder. As far as tape goes, 3M Super 33 is the only way to go.

Re: FINALLY! After months of waiting...

Why is tilt useless? I thought it was to go off in case someone jacked the car up to say, take the rims off? Or am I missing the whole point.

Re: FINALLY! After months of waiting...

Yes but on a truck you dont have to jack it up. Maybe on a honda 3" off the ground it could possibly maybe work. On a truck all you have to do us put blocks under the axles and let the air out of the tires. Truck lowers on to the blocks you take the wheels and tires and have a nice day. No tilt sensor will help you here.

No, you got it, A tilt sensor is not useless if you have big expensive wheels.

I would love to see you/anyone take my 22's off without jacking my Jeep up. Remember, WK's have IFS. When I take my wheels off the jack is almost fully extended. My tires have less then 4" of sidewall. And I have a big tire compared to most people on 22's, even if there was a block under my jeep, as soon as you started letting air out of the tires the suspension would start pushing the wheel towards the ground. Not gonna happen.

That might work on something with a huge sidewall like my winter wheels. But my concern is my summer setup.
