I was originally going to add a MyGiG system to my 07 Grand Cherokee but I've decided to go with a more conventional approach. I don't plan on adding any additional audio equipment or changing from the set-up I have now. One of the main reasons I am upgrading the head unit is that I want iPod integration that is easy to see (large display) and use (simple and intuitive menus). The other consideration is an accurate GPS that it simple to use.
I am considering several Pioneer and Alpine models.
I have always hate Pioneer for some reason, but I purchase a Pioneer Premier a few years ago and it's really nice (built in bluetooth, and iPod direct connect). How ever after checking out these two imo I would go with the Alpine. It was designed to work with the iPod and the face looks a lot nicer than the Pioneer. Good Luck!
alpine makes some of the best headunits hands down. Pioneers are good too but Ive found with their headunits the controls arent very good, like the units with one 360 degree large nob that does like 20 different things.
well. one thing you should look into is who make the maps for the units in question. IE. Garmin make the maps for the kenwood units and that one of the reasons I choose the kvt514.
I do believe Alpine makes the mygig units. I will say if thats the case they make a beautiful product! I love everything about this head unit.......... except the dumb BEOTCH who gets me lost, turns me wrong at the worst times and recognizes not one single name ive input into it in 7,000 miles of ownership. Now I believe Pioneer makes the ford based nav units. On my 08 lariet that is, that beotch has never once in 20,000 miles let me down. Pioneers nav units IMO are far and away superior!
