How to: Install Rear Door Speakers in WK

Another speaker Guide for my Guide Thread

took 30-40 minutes with REALLY windy weather. stupid wind.

Instructions

WARNING: disconnect negative lead to battery before doing this

1. Remove Rubber Mat in bottom of door pull cup. Remove exposed phillips screw.

2. Remove philips screw from door knob area.

3. Pry open sides and bottom of the door panel to release it from clips. Lift panel, disconnect electrical connectors and door release rod from Rod clip. Remove door panel.

4. Remove the three phillips screws from the speaker mount. Pull out speaker, disconnect and remove.

5. Connect speaker wiring harness or use soldering or connectors.
Place speaker back in and secure with screws you took out from step 4.

6. Test speakers and THEN reinstall door by reversing steps 1-3.

HAPPY LISTENING!

Why would you need to remove the battery to pull the door panel off? i have installed many door speakers including my 10 wk and see no need for that.

thats standard procedure bro...

a few reasons why though-

nobody wants to drain their battery- your door(s) will be open for a while...

and nobody wants a short circuit in the middle of the install where you have to spend more and more time figuring the short....

also last but not least safety.

Whenever doing anything electrical in your car, you should disconnect the battery. Its a safe thing to do that will take you less than a minute, and save you in the long run.

Re: How to: Install Rear Door Speakers in WK

I was just wondering, would I need to install a new separate amplifier if I want to use after market 6x9s in the rear?

Re: How to: Install Rear Door Speakers in WK

There are no 6X9's in the rear doors. they are 6.5" the 6X9's are in the front doors. and you can use the factory amp if you want.
