Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

I NEED HELP!!

Which ones have better sound quality? I am considering amping them with an Alpine MRPF-300. I have never had any problems with alpine and their amps LAST.

-Does anyone know if these speakers will even work with the stock setup(Ohm loads, etc...?)
-If I do use the Amp is it worth it? Price vs Sound?(Only 50W x 4)

I do not have the Boston A sound system. Car Toys told me that I probably do have a factory amp since I have the 3.5 tweeters in the dash.

Heres some links

Re: Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

well there are some big differences in those speakers. first they are different ohms, power ratings, and quality. the kappa's are there better quality speaker but the reference series is not bad at all for the price. now you want to put 6 speakers on a 4ch amp. in the jeeps without the BA system the 3.5's in the dash are tied with the 6x9's in the door making them all the front channels while the rear door speakers are the rear. now if you use the kappa's, they are 2 ohm speakers and by having the dash and door speakers linked you will end up with a 1 ohm load. not good for the alpine. by using the reference series you will end up with a 2 ohm load which is fine for the alpine. now you can separate the 3.5 from the 6x9 by running the dash speakers some new wires and just use the alpine to power the dash and front door speakers, then just the HU power to power the rear door speakers. or you could just find a 6 ch amp to run all the speakers separately, or get the 4 ch and a same wattage 2 ch alpine to go with it. there are so many different ways to wire up a system it really depends what you are trying to achieve with your system and how much money you have to spend.
hope this helps

Re: Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

I had the 3.5 tweeters but not the amp. Car Toys is full of shit. They should have said the best way to find put is to look.

Left rear panel in the cargo area. That is why those vents are back there and you might be able to see it through there.

Exactly what I needed to know, thanks draft! and yes car toys is usually full of shit lol. But I wanted to hear the speakers so I went to BS around with them.

I've installed many systems for friends, and these jeep has been the most complicated with an actual 6 speaker system. How the 3.5's were wired was by biggest concern, thanks again!

What happens to be just pure luck is that my TOBY subwoofer runs off of a MRPF-300!! So I could probably get away with running it on only channel 1+2, then using 3+4 for the rears.....(if I'm remembering the inputs correctly)

Now as far as actually wiring it all up, are there diagrams somewhere to show me how to get the speaker wire from the HU to the amp, the easiest way?

Thanks guys! I love the sound quality of the kappa's and I will have to weigh my options.

**(www.Toby.com) <sounds better than my JLW6v2 running at 500W @2ohms ever did in over all sound quality... And I have only the 10" sheriff running on aprox 75W per channel @ 2ohms

Re: Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

just get a wire harness from sonicelectronics and you will have all the speaker wires right there for you. but you will have to run new wires for the dash if you want to amp them by themselves. thats what i just did about 30min ago. the best way i found to do it is to go straight down the panel and under the dash and back up into the dash behind the radio. i couldnt find a way through the top of the dash. it came out good and OMG what a difference between them on the HU power and now amped!!!!! like night and day!!! get the kappa's and amp them, you wont regret it.

Re: Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

I was surprised how much quality there is to them once I had them in hand. I wasnt about to buy monster cable version as it doesnt do diddly shit in sound quality difference. Hell, I would have use a lamp cord equivalent if it was available.

Re: Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

I have the factory HU, does that effect the possibility of doing all this? I have an RCA adapter sharing the rear speaker output running to the subwoofer.

Is that what the PAC is for?

Re: Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

Found out that is what the PACis for. Found a universal one with 2 sets of RCA outputs. Would I be able to run one alpine MRPF-300 to the front doors and the 3.5s, and then run another alpine MRPF-300 to the rears and subwoofer?

Re: Infiniti Kappa vs. Refrence series

Question: do the inifinity reference series 6x9's fit in the doors without running into a depth problem? Thanks.
