Congrats Timmy For those Nice LED's ! they do flow awesome with your CD player

Matt , the ( PRND ) LEDS are the Small tiny Squared LEDS, they DO glow Very very very Bright and in GREEN .....

Yes, you Can Swap them if u have access to SIMILAR type and size of LED's only ! but put in mind :

1-

If you Inserted BLUE Or White LED's in there, They will ONLY illuminte in BLUE, bcz the color is reflected on a blue plexiglass sheet in there, that is difficult to swap with another one due to its fabrication shape

ROBpp did post us a useful, helpful link of some sheets that we can use to change the illumination, but unforunatwly they dont work, they cannot be fittet in our ( PRND ) grooves.... The Link is in My build thread.. page 10 or 11 i guess...

2-

What ever Other LED you place in there, will NOT illuminate MORE than the standard illumination we have on our (PRND) bezel, simply bcz it is designed that way... we cannot do anything...

so, studying those facts, i managed to keep those Leds in green, its not a bad idea, bcz it flows with the green illuminated parts on our GAUGES and window control buttons

My question is how did you get the old burnt out lights off of the heater control unit?

And also how did you get everything off to get to that unit to take out the old bulbs?

I used pliers to just wiggle the olb bulbs and the holders off the board. To get to the cuirtcut board, I pulled off the nav radio bezel and the shifter bezel, then pull on the whole assembly so it pops out, no tools needed except your hands. Move the shifter into drive so the assembly can be pulled out all the way and unhook all the wiring harnesses, 3 of them have these plastic locking tabs that need to be pulled up, I used a flat head screw driver for them. Then a 4mm socket is needed to remove the seperate units from the assembly thing, then each unit is held by plastic tabs. To seperate them I used a flat head screw driver working around the back and it popped off. For the heater control the knobs need to be removed, they just pull right off but they have to be set to a certain position, just pull on them while rotating till you feel the groove and they come right off.

Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

Hamze, I found some blue smt leds that might work for the doors and shift bezel. I ordered them and will keep everyone updated when I get them and try them out. I want all blue. hehe

Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

So Hamze, the factory PRND lights are actually white lights that are filtered using a blue piece of plexi...? And the plexi is difficult to replace...?

Sorry, I didn't quite understand

That sucks though. I'm not really concerned with light output, just color change. I'd like to try amber, but I would only do it if I could change ALL of the interior lights to amber. The mixed green/amber or any mix for that matter would look tacky.

Fark! I forgot about the door button illumination. This is beginning to look like to much work, lol.

Keep us updated on the shifter bezel and doors though... if you can get them all changed, I just may do this.

No, the factory lights are actually green leds. Then there is a blueish plastic piece over the leds that reflects the lights under all the letters, PRND. So because the leds are green and the plastic is a blue color it shows up light green thru the shifter.

So far I realized the heater control and C/T-Reset-Step-Menu, and ESP lights are regular bulbs with a blue rubber coating on them. The other lights like the door windows, air bag warning light, and shifter lights are actually leds. Odd why they are not all leds.

Okay, so now I understand... pics FTW!

Well, that kinda sucks. And yeah, definitely no way you're going to replicate that intricate plexi piece. Hmm.

Yeah. I just wanted to match my radio. Unfortunately it doesn't go all green... just green/blue, red/blue, red/amber, all blue.

I'm going to search an see if anyone has changed the LED's in the radio. That would be easier, lol.

Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

For the heater control there is a clear plastic piece, shown in this pic above the cuircut board, that reflects the light under the knobs and settings. There is a similar piece but in blue under the shifter bezel.
