Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

Well you could lightly paint that clear reflective piece and that might give you the color you want, but would have to have high output leds in that color also. Its not easy but def can be done.

I wonder why they did blue. Hmm, freakin' Jeep, LOL.

I wonder how well a white LED could just overpower the blueish tint and maybe end up looking white. Hamze... do it!

Trust me MAtt, if you see how thick that BLue reflector is, and how POWERFUL are those tiny green Leds are, you will know that what ever u will do, you will still have a Light dim Blue illumination .. After i've c'n them , i just closed the housing , and didnt bother temper with them , i preffer Green to match my Gauge Bezel and doors.. than dim blue that doesnt match anything

I hope that Timmy gets a picture of those door LEDS.... I personally Laughed at those LEDS when i saw them , again didnt bother to play with those...

Yeah, I'm going to take your advice and not even attempt to try those out.

I don't know, Timmy is a persistent mofo. He may figure something out.

Dont worry, between me and you and maybe someone else who wants to attemp it we WILL figure it out. I think I will be fine with installing blue leds in the shifter unit. But you are correct in that because of those plastic relfector pieces they will only be so bright, now much better then stock unlike the other button bulbs we replaced.

I noticed the same thing. Do you, or can you, trim those LED's down so they fit closer to the board?

Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

What about just removing the blue tinted piece and installing led's directly under the PRND buttons?

The problem is that you can only install 3 Led's... and those 3 Led's are not located under any of the ( prnd ) letterings ... so, if we removed that blue plexi peice, nuthing will light up, bcz that peice is what distributes the light.....

Those buttons are hollow so the leds I installed do not touch the button at all inside. The reason they are so long is because of the length of the resistors mainly. My soldering is getting better so I prob could get them a little shorter but not by much. BUT, I think its good because the led bulbs are right directly behind the back of the buttons and glow really bright. Im used to it now and like the look. To get them closer to the board you would have to do what I did for the esp button and trim the rubber boot contact thing and lay the resistor flat on the board.

Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

My smt bulbs have been shipped and in the mail. Finally. I just hope they are the small kind like the ones installed in the Jeep. I have some extra leds that are white with smt bulbs on them I was trying to work with but they are big. I think if I extend the soldering points they might actually work. See where it gets me. Im just not sure the resistor needed because they are 1watt leds. Have to do some more research and math I guess.
