Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

I haven't been motivated to attempt the rest of the lights yet. Ill prob read thru Hamzes's posts since I think he had luck with them. Having no garage makes working on my Jeep suck in the winter. I did take off my bumper air dam and install the LED light strips along the bottom but when I went to test them one of the strips didn't work so I ripped them off. After messing with them uusing my volt meter I guess by pressing them on too hard to get the 3M tape to bond a short happened. I cut out the bad section and im left with a 9" strip to work with. Trying that next. I also saw a great write up on a Malibu forem where they installed amber light strips along the inside of the side mirrors that work with the turn signals that I want to try, looked really good.

i dont plan on doing any other ones as they work fine for now lol

just need to know what size those specific lights are for the ac console part, and what size led's will work?? and should i order more then just the 3 that are burned?

thanks

So - anyone have "project completed" going on? I want to do this....just want to nail down the hardware.....3mm LED's ( i assume there are common resistors that they are packaged with?)

I believe they would work, any led would work with the proper resistor and given the light output of the led is strong enough.

Someone just emailed me saying he installed 3mm leds and it doesn't appear as bright as the ones in my photos. Come to find out the leds he bought put out 2000-5000mcds, so I sent him a few of the ones I have rated at 10,000mcds to try. I should be getting an update how they turn out.

Believe me, I know very little when it comes to leds and circut boards, and I just experiment and learn along the way.

Good question. I never tried as I keep the setting on the brightest all the time. But I would guess that they would dim given there is a resistor attached and the led would act just like a filament bulb. But a good way to check is to see if the airbag light dims, since that is already an led.

Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

I just bought my 05' WK..and none of my heat controls/ac have lights..idk if this is because i have the basic WK..or because there burnt out..but it is a pain in the ass to find out what im putting the ac on at night..soo is it just a matter or me replacing the bulbs? and also, did you just pop the front plate off?

Re: Installed LEDs in Heater Control/Buttons

wkjeeps.com interior trim removal will get the part in your hand. irt comes out thru the back of that bezel. so radio bezel out then that one/ then remove hvac. then open it up. get your leds and resistors and do the timmy B thing/ or contact diboblo and he can fix it for you.
