Re: Is there any way?

Thought i would bring this back up. Its been in my WK un finished making me nuts for months now. I finally started to work on it again today getting it prepped for the Flexible SEM Weld and polyester putty. I still need to pickup those parts from the shop but today i sanded all the nasty looking epoxy off and really scuffed up the surfaces. Then i drilled tons of holes in it to make it like swiss cheese so there is good adhesion. as i progress i will post pics. I might look in to buying some Duraglass as well.

Re: Is there any way?

Update,

So for the last few months i have not had any time to continue my project to make a nav bezel work with a non nav 6 disc cd changer.

With my son being born and lack of funding i have been driving around with the unfinished product for a long time. I am sick of looking at it and explaining it to anyone that gets in my WK that just does not understand what or why i did this.

So, this afternoon while it was warm out i came across my roll of bacl 3m Vinyl that i bought from Scott.

My final plan will be to get vinyl made that looks just like the wood grain in my WK (they will take a picture of the dash bezel wood and use that to make a roll of vinyl that looks like it) I like to look of wood grain and i think it would look sweet once its all done in wood grain on the entire center stack.

But for now to make it more aesthetically pleasing i used the black 3m to experiment with. it did not come out perfect and even with a hair dryer i still could not get all the lines out. But its better then it was. You can see all the imperfections in the base material so this will help me figure out what parts needs work still.

You can also see me **** up where i sanded the whole face of the bezel on a whim that i was going to paint the entire thing. Now i want to make it all as factory looking as possible so once i get the new vinyl i will buy another bezel and carefully swap out just the center section instead of starting from scratch.
