kicker amp question

so im thinkin on upgrading from my boston amp to the kicker amp.....while looking at the specs of the kicker amp i found the rms power 28w x 8 @ 4ohms and 46w x 8 @ 2ohms.......now what i have noticed (my many years of car audio experience) is that multiple channel amps can only run @ 4ohms with all channels, so running at 2ohms you would have to sacrafice some speakers........(this may be too technical for some of you but the experienced prolly know what im talking about)......i'll just make it simple does anybody know what ohms the stock kicker speakers are wired at?? and lets say the front 3.5 and 6x9 are 4ohms and i order a 2ohm set of 6.5's for the rear.....will that work or do all speakers have to be either 4ohms or 2ohms??

Re: kicker amp question

Its an 8 channel amp, rated for 368W MAX. Thats 46W per channel @ 4ohms, which is what the stock speakers are. I have no idea why they bother giving the ratings for 2 ohm speakers..

Re: kicker amp question

We only have 6 actual speakers. Chrysler counts each cone seperately though. Thats why they claim the SRT Kicker system is 13 speakers. 2 3.5's in the dash, 1 6x9 3 way in each door, 1 6.5" 2 way in each rear door, and the 10" square sub in the back.

1+1+3+3+2+2+1=13

Its retarded. But yes, we're only using 6 channels from the main amp. The sub has its own amp.

Re: kicker amp question

The WK Kicker system is promoted as an 11 speaker system (not 13). "11 speakers in 7 locations".

Mopar math: 4 + 2 + 4 + 1 = 11

The speakers are 2 Ohms.

As noted, 6 channels are used in the WK system. RMS Power at 2 Ohms = 46 W x 6 (276-watt).

A 7th channel is available (center channel), an additional speaker can be wired to this output.
