Re: L.E.D help request

Okay, just got up to speed. Sorry for your problems. It sounds like the bulb. It is following the problem from side to side when you switch the bulb? Have you tried swapping the harness I made for you side to side?

Don't worry man, we'll get it figured out. Just ask Ekaz!

Let me clarify for Relwarc. I made him a harness, but it's not a rear fog harness. It is just a short harness that has the resistor already wired into it so that he would have a plug-n-play setup using LED bulbs in stock tails.

Therefore, using that exact post you quoted earlier from the red site Rob, I used 6-ohm resistors and wired them across the high element of the brake bulb.

I dunno what each lead of the S_RK bulbs do, but maybe if you put them in backwards, they blow the fuses. I would say try turning the bulbs around. I would start with whichever one popped a fuse first.

This problem is strange, but we'll figure it out, just like we did with Ekaz.

Jason on the job. sorry I was confused about what his harness did.

Relwarc, maybe a diagram of where you are at with it all might help.

i agree with jason that this can be fixed.

Re: L.E.D help request

ok here's the deal, and thanks for the input lips!

I switched the harnesses, and the bulbs. the only common variable is one of the bulbs.

bulbs in backwards don't work at all, so thats not a problem. One of the bulbs seems to blow the fuse whenever the jeep tries to put it in the dim but lit stage. The only time is does that is when the headlights are on, and i'm not braking. I'm going to E-mail V-LED's and see if i can return them for another set.

The harnesses from Lips are TOP knotch, they are amazing.

Will follow up with a full install write up when i get the new bulbs.

Sorry about your luck with the bulbs. Make sure you post your findings in this thread when you get new bulbs from V-LED's so we know if it was indeed the bulb or not. I will stay subscribed to this thread to monitor any of your findings.

Push on v-leds. I complained when I had a bad bulb and they upgraded me to express shipping for free.

Re: L.E.D help request

Side questions that may be helpful to others when doing this project.

There was a warning about the resistors... that they get hot...

HOLYSHIT UNDER STATEMENT

They get insanely hot... what happens when they get wet in the rain? these bitches are going to crack, melt something, or cause condensation, no?

I'm thinking of using 4 24 ohm resistors in parallel.... try to cool them bitches down.

any input?

Don't be skeered.

That's why they have that fancy gold-anodized heat sink on them. If some water gets up on there, it's not gonna do anything. A resistor is a passive device, as long as it doesn't melt, it will function.

And a better route would be to wire two 3-ohm in series. This would effectively cut your heat load in half, AND they are readily available from V-LED's. They also have the heat sinks on them, so you would have more than enough dissipation capacity.

I think you're just being a scaredy-cat. Mount them secure to the sheet metal behind your taillight and they won't melt anything EVER. Also, bear in mind that if I wired them correctly, the only time the resistor is going to be loaded is when either your turn signal or brakes are on.

I believe it was a few hours. Somehow I got a phone number, maybe off the invoice or something. I don't care what people say, I'd still rather talk to a human being than send emails back and forth.
