Re: Lets get it bumpin

Yes it does, But it also depends on what you are going to run.

For a 12" sub i always recommend a kit that uses 4ga power wire and 8ga power wire for a 10 with a small amp. the bigger the amp the bigger the gauge i would go.

Go to Best buy and buy a Rockford fosgate kit, That will be the best quality kit for the money. Should come with power, ground, Amp wires and speaker wire from amp to sub and a Rem wire.

The rem wire will turn the amp on and off with the key so you dont drain the battery. (that will need to go to a 12v power source in the fuse box that shuts off with the car, they make a little fuse adapter that lets you use an exiting fuse. I can take a pic of it tomorrow if you want. (its an adapter that you connect to the Rem wire, then you remove 1 10 amp fuse from the fuse box, put 2 10 amp fuses in the adapter and re install in to the open location on the fuse box, you need to buy that little gem, about $8 at radio shack or home depot. )

Or get a nice Tsunami kit, from an audio shop but that will be more costly.

Alot of small shops and best buy will also sell less expensive kits that will be fine for you and anyone not looking for competition stereos as well.

Re: Lets get it bumpin

Alright, I'll look around. We have a couple best buys i can check out...The peripheral I need to get comes with a remote turn on wire...could I just connect the rem wire form the amp to that part of the peripheral instead of a fuse?

Re: Lets get it bumpin

You should be able to but i am not too familiar with the PAC kit to know the exact answer.
I would install it the way the PAC kit tells you to.

Re: Lets get it bumpin

No problem, have fun and take you time, all the trim panels along the floor attach with metal clips and are kind of tough to get out, if the clip comes off the plastic push it back on in to the clip. The rear panel has a few screws and a bunch of clips on it. You need to remove the trim that is across the top of the back of the roof(it has clips too) and then remove the piece that is vertical above the rear panel and then the rear panel. the rubber trim is supposed to go over the plastic edge when you re install. Again be careful and dont force it.

Not really. Wire is wire for the most part. You can get into different strand counts (i.e. flexibility), but they all do the same thing.

I have really enjoyed the products from, www.knukonceptz.com. They offer very high quality products at comparably inexpensive prices. If you're staying under 1,000 watts RMS then a 4 guage kit will do.

(^^ the first one listed will be fine)

Re: Lets get it bumpin

I received the wiring kit in the mail 3 days ago, and the amp and sub should be here on the 28th. I'd like to get the wiring done before the amp/sub comes in because I won't have time to run the wiring on tuesday, but I will today. Where is the best place to run the power cord through the firewall? The hole on the drivers side is all sealed up and I didn't see a better way to get in.

Also, would it be a problem to run the cords (power/remote/rca) under the drivers side kick panels?

Re: Lets get it bumpin

I was able to drill my power wire hole under the drivers side and it came out right under the master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir. then i sealed around it with silicone. Just be careful and make sure you drill in an open area with no wires or anything to damage. its tight under the dash but its dooable.

I ran all my wires by the drivers side kick panel under all the trim to the back of the jeep.

Re: Lets get it bumpin

Damn...I REALLY wanted to avoid drilling. Is running it under the car out of the question?
