I did it. It took about an hour to do but that was cuz I zip tied it like every inch. I have a few crapy cell phone pics of the install I'll get posted soon. The link you posted worked out great that piece is real easy to remove. there is two grommets that are used for the third brake wiring that I ran the wires through then sealed it off to make them water prof again.

Re: License plate cam installs - advice needed :)

I tapped the camera wires in the licence plate wire. Works great, anytime I want to use the camera I just activate it from the Nav/lock pick system, I had it wired to the reverse lights but it made the image a bit static-y (I was told that can happen due to power overload to the camera) not sure I buy that, but it worked.

Awesome! Would like to see those pics you took - will help me when I finally dive in
Following up on what biffsup asked...did you end up running the power wire all the way to the radio or did you tap into the power at the license plate light?
I'm assuming that the power connection on the lockpick supplies constant power (like the license plate light would) and that it would simply switch input to the cam when you put it in reverse, but would not have the overload problem and static that biffsup mentioned...but I'm not sure.
Do you even HAVE a lockpick? I'm assuming you must - I'll have to go back and reread this thread...

Re: License plate cam installs - advice needed :)

No I don't have a lock pick I have a pioneer avh-4300DVD. I ran the power all the way to the deck. I connected the reverse wire from the deck to the tail lights but I can get it to work properly when in reverse. i can use the camera when I switch to AV mode with no issues. I was thinking about tapping into the license plate light but then it wouldn't work during the day since my light wouldn't be on. Not sure though. The pics are super crapy iphone pics but when i take it apart on Tuesday I will take some with my cam.
The gromet i pulled the wires through for when the hatch is open

The top grommet

One of the bolts you need to remove to get the black plate off it's a 10mm

other bolt

the plastic cover on the hatch is real simple to remove. You take out the 2 10mm bolts by the grab handles then just pull. It clips in everywhere. If you want more pics I can get them in the next couple days.
