haha, thanks Mark!

I've been doing some research the past few weeks - contemplating on going back to an active set-up... or at least using all new drivers. We'll see.

WTF! Send me your equipment and I'll put it in mine, LOL. But that's cool that you're going to SEMA - take pics!

By the way, I've been intensely doing some reading on DIYMA Looking to go active again soon.

Rough sketch of equipment I've got my eye on;

Processing
  • Alpine 9887
  • Pioneer 800PRS
Amplification
  • nothing yet, maybe PDX (150.4, 600.1), maybe Sundown. Haven't done any reading about this yet.
Front stage (wide-bands glassed in the corners of the dash, mids in the doors)
  • Tang Band W3-1354SA
  • Peerless 830986
  • Tang Band W4-1757SB
  • Fountek FR88
  • H-audio Trinity's
  • Peerless SLS 6.5
  • OEM v2/2.5
Sub stage
  • SI Mag.v2
  • Dayton HO 10"

I really want to try the 9887, but the non-ability to flip phase for all the drivers right at the head unit could be a deal breaker... that was such an awesome feature on the Pioneer. Having to do that manually over and over and over and over again would really suck!

But my searching has just started. Who knows what I'll come across in the next few weeks/months.

Re: Matt's 2006 WK Stereo Build Log

for the amps, I'd suggest the JL HD amps I see myself upgrading to these in the future because of their small size like the PDX's but with zero noise floor.

The Mag V2 I haven't seen much info on, got any good links? unless you mean the D2 but I dont think you do.

If you get the 9887, i'm sure I'll be asking you a ton of questions.

my gear as of now is 9887 >Sundown SAX4.100 & SAX2.100> H-Audio Trinity's & Seas CA18RNX & SI MagD2 V4

I was actually looking at the HD900/5, lol, what a coincidence.
I've got the JL HD's, Alpine PDX's, and the Eclipse XA/ZA's in my cross hairs at the moment.

I think you've got the Mag confused.. there are two versions. You have the v2 (which is dual 2 ohm) and that's also the one I' referring too. I'm pretty certain I want to glass the enclosure in the passenger side rear quarter, so I'll have to see if I'll have a cube of airspace there.

haha, good deal.

I'm still iffy about the fact that you can't switch phase for all drivers with the 9887. That is such a crucial piece of tuning and being able to do it on the fly makes things MUCH easier. Still 50/50 between the 9887 and the 800PRS. I just had the 880, so I'd like to try the Alpine.

You've bought and sold and bought and haven't even installed anything, LOL. I just kid.

Those Seas are great speakers (from what I've read over the years), should mate nicely with the Trinity's. I think I'm almost set on going with the OEM's v2.5. I loved my v1's and this are supposed to be able to cross higher and lower and handle more power.

When I change the gear, yes.

I'm looking to get a Stereo Integrity Mag and it is a 12" sub. It's only like 5" of mounting depth, so I'm pretty sure I can get a mimic stealthbox in there and have it fit without looking awkward.

When the time comes, and if anyone is interested, I'll sell the enclosure/grill and sub. I need to keep all of the other speakers for replacement when I sell the car.

haha, no prob... just as long as you want to pay shipping.

I now have access to a commercial grade table saw... so making these would be pretty easy. I could always just ship all of the pieces pre-cut, pre-drilled. Just screw, glue and carpet and you'd be good to go!

Re: Matt's 2006 WK Stereo Build Log

Serious bro? That would be AWESOME! I wonder how much shipping would be?

Also, PM me on making one since I can't seem to find the time to even get started lol, and let me know how much you would charge me to make one man!
