Re: Matt's 2006 WK Stereo Build Log Part II

Looking great Matt, can the box be made to fit fairly flush with the D6? Mine should be here tomorrow and ill start my box Saterday. What ive seen so far looks just like what I was hoping to make mine look like. Any idea on the cubic feet of the box when its all said and done?

Thanks Joel!

What do you mean when you say flush?

I'm guessing you mean will I be able to not have the mounting ring stick out at all...? If so, the answer is no. They are some deep suckers, so it will protrude from the quarter panel. This is what I thi nk I will struggle with tomorrow... how I want to "shape" the front part of the enclosure.

We'll see.

I'm expecting to have anywhere from .8 ft^3 to 1.5 ft^3. The D6 models up very well in pretty much anything between those ranges, so that's good. Plus, I can always add mass if i want to make the enclosure smaller.

Don't be intimidated! I always have been scared of trying a fiberglass build, but let me tell you, it's sooo easy! The prep work was the crappiest part, but none of it is hard. It's actually not very time consuming either. Again, the prep work was, but laying the glass, bah, simple.

haha, you need some of that can-do attitude Joe! To be honest, nothing out there is really that hard. From what I've done - HID's, DIY intake, and other things mostly stereo related - are all easy. Anyone can do any of this stuff. It's 90% reading and educating yourself. The actual work, it's just manual labor. Application of what you know. For all the time I have spent on DIY projects, I've probably spent 5 times that doing research.

Thats what I was wondering about how far the sub will need to sit out from the panel.

Yeah, it's going to be a few inches from the bottom panel (at least). I may be able to work with some different baffle angles to get it closer to the side, but possibly at the cost of a not so attractive shape. I'll play around with it tomorrow and give my feedback.

I'll likely go with it straight up and down, a few inches away from the bottom panel - no angle tilt upwards.
