More Bass In Stereo ??

Hello,

Well....swapped the dash speakers for a set of Kickers and just did the driver doors (6x9) with a set of Boston Accoustics.

The system really sounds good now. Very clean, dynamic, fidelity, mids, highs and kinda low end.

But.....the system is really missing that "deep bass". I don't want to crank up my bass on my stock radio and blow the dash speakers. I currently run my bass at +2 to +4 maximum. The bass is a little snappy and boppy.

So....question. Other then installing a $2,000. component based system, is there any way to feed a bass speaker off the stock radio?

I still haven't changed the 6.5's in the back doors, do they make speakers that produce mostly bass that I could put in their?

Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: More Bass In Stereo ??

Hi,

Gentlemen...stereo experts...can I do this??

I posted earlier about my upgraded front speakers sounding real good now, but missing any deep base.

Because the rear doors don't have to worry about hitting the window (they only go down half way) can I install these 6.5" subwoofers in my rear doors.
They seem to have wire connectors I could just attach to.
If they fit, would this concept of deep base work??? (stock radio)

Check them out !! What do you think?

Re: More Bass In Stereo ??

The only real option for deep bass is to add a powered subwoofer. If you put woofers in the rear doors you're going to lose your midrange fill from the rear and you still won't get that deep bass you're looking for. You have a lot of different options depending on how much work you want to do and how much you plan on spending. If you really want plug-and-play, the Mopar Kicker setup is probably the best bet, but it's hard to find since its been discontinued.

I responded to your other post. Seriously dude, don't waste your money on that Pyramid crap. Those, and any other subs, are going to sound like crap if you just hook them directly at the factory location without any type of crossover. Plus you will end up damaging them because you are sending frequencies to them that they are not designed to handle.

If you really want some hard hitting bass you are going to need a boxed sub and amp. The instructions I sent you from wkjeeps.com show you how to tap into the factory wiring to get an audio signal and then you run power for the amp from the battery and a switched power source.

Good luck!

Re: More Bass In Stereo ??

I agree with hemi Dog please do yourself a favor, and don't buy the pyramid stuff. My wife brought me a pyramid 1000 watt amp for Christmas a while back. I had a 200 watt Blaukpunt in the car at the time which was fine. I knew better, but I put it in, and just like I thought the Blau that could almost fit in the palm of my hand sounded way better.
