Re: My build

Yea, I think you're sol on that one. Maybe you can grab some old school alpine or eclipse half din eq's... That is if you can find one.

Re: My build

Nice write up on that imprint, it makes a lot of sense. And as far as the Eclipse go, Im going another route but I take your word they are a nice set of speakers. Im back to some Focal or Hertz 6.5" mounted in the front. Im going to custom mount the tweet like you did in the top of the door panel just because as far as Ive hard and can tell thats best for the sake of imaging. I like the way the sound comes off the windshield from the fronts but the 3.5" speaker isnt going to give me what I want. Id just much rather have some comps, all in all haven't heard anything that sounds better than the Hertz 6.5 comps I heard in a guys Ford Harley Edition getting about 100 watts RMS but I'm sure pushing 80 to them (CES rated, its JL so no jokers as far as amps go) will do the job. All I know is my 6x9 coaxs from Infinity are crap as far as sound goes and the 3.5" in the dash are the only reason I can hear any of the vocals/highs in all the music I listen to haha.

Anyway I end up the dyna-mat and comps upgrade is going to be huge! I also wanted to do the big 3 upgrade but Im not sure if its worth it. Someone did a nice write-up but at the end of the day the wires are already like 4-6 gauge under the hood so I haven't and shouldnt have any issues as far as that goes.

The combo between deadening my doors and getting some properly tuned components from a reputable company should make the difference Im looking for. You setup as far as SQ goes Im sure is unbeatable within your price range. The install looked top notch and all new wires to the doors was probably nice haha. Wish I could do it all but Ive done my "system" and dont need to throw any more $ (besides new 6.5"s) at it haha.
Maybe an EQ down the road but well see

Re: My build

Well I figured out why I had to turn the volume 3/4 up on average. My dumb ass had the amp dialed down way low. like 1/4 up low. I changed it to 3/4 and now I cant get past half volume on the headunit without having to get out of the Jeep.

But, while doing this I somehow knocked my subs off line...grrrr. My remote tells me the status of the sub amp is good (green light) but I have no sound. Im pretty sure I pulled a line somewhere between the subs and amp. It means I have to take the right rear panel off. Not looking forward to going back into it *AGAIN*

<sigh>

Re: My build

That doesnt sound good. kinda strange that you change the gains on your boston amp and the jbl shuts off. I dont see how you could have pulled something without getting under your panels. from the pics everything looks secure. strange. keep us updated on this.

Re: My build

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGRRRRHHHHHH!!!! GODAMNIT!! Im about to pull out my eye balls and run around in a screaming rage! I cant get the piece of sh!t Alpine Imprint software to run! Why in the hell cant they update and not put a little more money into it!? After doing all possible tricks, gimmicks, and voodoo, Alpine tells me "to find a win XP computer"... NO ONE RUNS THAT SH!T ANYMORE! Well, not that I cant find.

phuck me. Im out like $200 on this crap and I cant even use it.

F*** YOU Alpine. F*** you.

Re: My build

I stuck this on DIYmobile to see if anyone or a possible Alpine rep will bite:

Dear Alpine,

You sold me on a CDA-117 headunit. I dont have the patience, nor the full understanding to tune by ear. So you sold me on an IMPRINT module and the kit thats sold separately.

I have a sweet setup. I am using Eclipse 3-way components in all the doors in my car powered by a pretty decent Boston 4 channel amp... I would really like to hear this stuff really shine but...

After attempting every trick, secret, and voodoo to no avail, I still cant get further than an "Port Open Error". Ive used two different win7 computers running every compatibility mode imaginable... if it had Mac mode, I would have tried that too. I have scoured the internet for an entire week as well to make sure Im not fully retarded as to why I couldnt get past the Open Port Error.

Your tech support is very friendly and prompt albeit useless when it comes to IMPRINT and its crap software. I was told to try and find an actual winXP machine. It's *2011*. I havent owned or know anyone thats had XP since 2007!

You supposedly put a ton of money into this set up and a long time worth of research but lets face it, the Imprint software is easily the most half-assed software Ive ever had the displeasure of working with. I'd estimate you hired a 13 year old for $100 and a coke to make the software.

UPDATE YOUR EFFING SOFTWARE AND MAKE IT USER FRIENDLY

Anger bashing and eye gouging rage aside, if you are an Alpine rep or one of the kick ass members on this board and have an idea, please let me know.

Re: My build

could you tell us how you really feel. it sucks you are having so much trouble with it. it seemed like a real nice way to easily tune your system. oh well good luck with finding a fix for it.
