Re: My system Downgrade.

I havent started on it yet. I picked up some resin and glass matt from lowes. They seem to be cheaper than homedepot. I think a full day, prob saturday is needed to make the mold.

What did you use to make the back piece fit so well? any chance you saved your template?

I don't have a router so im probably going to spend the 30 bucks and buy the rings from ebay

interior dimensions... this is an important one to me since my current box sounds FANTASTIC and is 1cubic foot, how can i be sure to keep my internal dimensions with the new box?

A jigsaw with new blades will work fine to cutout the rings. Then take some time to sand them by hand to acheive the same thing as a router.

When I do mine im going to follow what I have learned in my research online, about finding the volume by using packing peanuts. Fill a 1'x1'x1' cardboard box with packing peanuts which equal one cubic foot, then when you make ur mold with the fabric material use those peanuts to fill the mold. Adding or removing peanuts to the total volume you need. You can move the mdf ring in or out accordingly until the packing peanuts fill the mold.

Also if the enclosure comes out too large in volume you can always fill it with to make up the difference. Maybe a poly fill or even spray foam, but dont quote me on that, im still researching.

For my Viair or the speakers? haha.

The Compressor is hooked up to my 2.5 gallon Viair tank for my Air horns but I also put a fitting on the tank so i could hook up any sort of air tools if needed.

For the speakers..

I have the same setup, running dual tone horns up front and a regulator for tools, do you have the model number 10005 heady duty?

Go with what Timmy Said. The packing peanuts are about the best way to find the volume. Make a 1 Cu. Ft. box out of cardboard or something and empty whatever fits in your sub box into that and you'll know if you need to add more space or lose some.

I didn't save the mold for the back piece. What you can do is get some cardboard and cut a rough shape of the wheel hump out so it fits kind of close. Then take a compass with a pencil on it and run it down the hump marking on the cardboard as you go along. Then cut it out and should fit perfect.

If your going to stores like that for the glass and resin....Walmart might be the cheapest. Especially with their Hardner.

and x2 on the Packing Peanuts. But I believe the polyfil you'd use if your box is alittle to small. It'll kind of trick the sub into thinking its in a bigger enclousre.

I dunno on the model number. I bought this stuff along time ago.

I believe I have the 450C. Nice little compressor.

Re: My system Downgrade.

^^ Not sure. I'd also have to find out if I really wanted to take the time to make more. I spent about 2 - 2.5 weeks making these...but that was off and on doing a little at a time.

You have the perfect opportunity right now, take orders for the enclosures, requiring downpayment for the materials cost, then get on it and crank em out. JL steath boxes are insane money, charge half price and im thinking you will make out pretty good.

Damn, that is clean, +rep!!

Outstanding work, that looks awesome and you've still got loads of room in the back. Wish I had the skills to do something like that.
