my gig non nav(ren) hack to play dvds while in motion... (truck in park, start dvd,hit audio button, put car in drive, hit ok button on screen, dvd while driving:)

download version 8.4 from here http://mofv.com/MyGIG/NoNav/REN_8.400.zip
Unzip the files to your Hard drive and burn them to a CD data disc:
Burn the CD at 2x speed for maximum reliability, and disable multisession (Add files later) on your burning software.
1. For Version 8.400 - Name the CD to REN_8.400 when burning it. (Recommended)
2. Root directory MUST contain only one folder and two files:
BECKER (folder)
CD_INFO.CDI
CONFIG.CDI
Start your car (Recommended), Load the CD in your MyGIG radio and the update will automatically start once the disc is recognized. Updating will take around 15 minutes.
For Version 8.400 - Click the No soft key prompt window then Remove the CD after you see the "Update from 8.400 to 8.400" screen.

Re: Stereo Install

REN - Mygig without nav
RER - Mgig with nav
lockpick - will enable features that are disabled (playing dvd while moving, rear camera on while driving, etc..) around $200

quick question - im installing my ren(my gig w/o nav) unit tom or sat. what can i use to pry up the shift bezel w/o breaking it... it's picture #1:) im sure it's simple but i've never done this before and I don't want to crack the shift bezles

Re: Stereo Install

Irf, get a flat head screw driver and place it under the out/under/larger bezel (the part that's not chrome). Gently pry at this part until the chrome bezel becomes loose. Then pull up on the chrome bezel carfully (it's all just snaps).

Re: Stereo Install

Irf - I used a plastic putty knife thingy...a very thin piece of plastic that is used to smooth out plaster. Worked very well and ensures you wont f-up the chrome or wood trim! And I EVENLY went around the whole piece, not pulling one corner/side out completely...I would gently pry around the entire bezel so it is somewhat loose then go back around again and pop it out. Does that make any sense? HAHA

Re: Installing factory rear ves

Irf I feel like a tard...what is a REN? Does this unlock the dvd to allow it to play while vehicle is in motion??
REN is my gig w/o nav. i didn't want the nav so i got it w/o the nav. there is a software hack for this version to play dvds while in motion.

if you have the my gig w/nav that is the RER and there is no software hack for the dvd to play while in motion but there is a hardware hack which takes 15 mins and cost $200(pm/call me) for the site with the cheapest price.

thanks scott

OK so i checked out a couple lockpicks...pretty cool!

My question is how will I fit the additional harness behind the NAV unit? I have a PAC adapter for my stereo (2X RCA outputs) and that was a tight fit...Also, since I do have this PAC will there be any playback/functionality issues?

I mean I can prolly fit the damn thing in there, so I guess my main question is can the PAC and Lockpick be used in the same setup?

Matt you should contact someone about a group buy on Lock Picks!!!

#25 ·
Yes I'll be in for a Lockpick group buy for sure!!!

Yeah the rear cam is great! I have the Ipod intergration in glove box but I'd rather have it in center console. Only thing is it constantly charges even when the car is off. (I think)
