Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

Brad what side of your jeep did you run the power and what side for rca/remote? Also what wire did you use to connect the speaker inside the enclosure to the enclosure terminals?

Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

I dunno bout everyone but I have a $75 PORTED box running a single 12" Alpine Type R and its sounds fantastic. Pushing like 400 watts RMS from an old 2007 baby Alpine mono amp wired in series I think. All I know is the Jeeps acoustics make the sound, turn any sub up pushing decent power in a PORTED box (thats key in these Jeeps) and it'll bump loud and clean pending you get decent sub.

Again got my Type R for like $100 $ and its loud and clean, Jeeps rear hatch makes the sound though. I listen to all types of music, lot of hip-hop and honestly for $ it cant be beat, its no audiopihle setup but who needs that? I dont have that kinda $ to burn anyway. Nate your box will be fine, Id see if you can port it though, talk to someone about the measurements there, pending on how you cut it, changes the sound wave so something to look into

Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

Yeah I ran out on my lunch and picked up this box from 6th avenue electronics. And BTW they sell the PAC adapters for $80. which is what I found it for online. I'll try it and see how I like it. I'm going to put another coat of silicone in the seams inside to make a nice tight seal.

Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

I went sealed, and love it...

2x Rockford Fosgate Stage 3 P3D412 12"
Power Acoustik A3000Db 3,000 watts

seal custom box made to fit UNDER my security cargo cover.

Subs - $99 each (so 198, no tax or shipping) during a good sale
Amp - $235 from sonicelectronix.com WITH a 2-year warranty
wiring kit - $24 power acoustik 2-gauge wiring kit
box + install (with warranty and a 150 amp fuse) - $300

$757.

My amp is barely up and it's loud as balls. But, it's for my in the car, so I didn't go with ported. Ported in many respects may be louder, but it's not for everyone OUTSIDE the car, it's for me on the INSIDE, and no to mention with ported I would've had to have used WAY more room than I did. My amp can stay UNDER the cargo cover and it won't overheat because I have way more power than I'll need.

Retail for everything...

249.99 Each Sub (500)
475 for the equivalent new amp (mine is 2 years old, end of the series)
49.99 wiring kit
300 for box + install....

1325 retail for my system...

i think I did pretty damn good.

Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

Nice Ant. I would usually pay to have it installed but I'd like to see how things are wired and ran so I can mod or change things in the future if I wish ya know. Who know I may just drop the shit to a shop and have them put it in. LOL

Anyone on Long Island know a reputable stereo shop to install my shit?

Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

you can totally do it Nate...and I actually had a blast taking apart the Jeep and making it exactly how I wanted. Power (2 gauge) remote and turn-on lead all down drivers side, RCA's ran down the passenger side (Matt said something about noise/power interference). On the PAC adapter, tape off the set or RCA's you are not going to use...You already know how to take apart the rear, and the dash is easy as long as you take your time and reference the write-up on WK jeeps...and I have a couple pics (more not posted) if you needa any. This was by far my most satisfying mod/install I did myself...true sense of pride in it for me

Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

Nate, trust me bro. Spend the money ($75-$150) on a good sounding box, TRUST me.....

If your going to trust me once, this is it.

The good boxes are designed for the sub to hit hard, I compared (In my old cavalier) I had a 35 dollar box from futureshop, and a 175 bassworx box...it was NIGHT AND DAY my friend...NIGHT AND DAY!!!!!

do it, or ill personally bitch slap you myself..k lol

Re: Nasty Nate's Stereo build...

I made my box. There is a tool out there that you can plug in the drivers specs and it'll spit out what you need. I gave it roughly 1.2 in each "box" in my two driver enclosure. I have two image dynamics 12" subs powered in mono by an old kenwood @ 300RMS. It does very good job

Which btw i want to sell them. + Box. I need to remake the top baffle for the subs since it cut it to fit tightly in my accord and it looks bad not in a car to the back seat lol. and carpet it. box and subs are about 70lbs. I wont ship it so you have to come get lol.

good luck on the install nate annnnnd take pics of course

What do you have for a source unit? or you sticking with stock source?
