Re: need Khaki carpeting for Sub enclosure

The cargo area already has a decent sound deadening mat on the metal floor. I pulled mine up while doing the false floor and laid a layer of Grace Ultra peel and stick weatherproofing membrane and doubled that up where I cut the stock soundproofing where my amps sit to give an inch of extra depth then put the stock mat back down. Grace Ultra and Grace Vycor Butyl are basically the same as Dynamat and cost much less and Homedepot carries it. Where as Grace Vycor Plus is an asphalt based membrane that softens and runs in heat and Grace Ice and Water shield is an SBS based adhesive that can withstand higher temps, but not as good as the Butyl rubber based Grace Ulta or Grace Vycor Butyl membranes. For my doors I used a self adhered EPDM membrane that is made for permanent exposure and will not melt from the heat. Dont use anything asphalt based that will tend to run in the doors from the heat, look for butyl based membrane. Can do the entire car with these products for the price of doing one door with dynamat.
