Re: New Subs

hmmm okay. I might need to install a knob. I currently just have them running through the HU and I can adjust the level in there but I like the idea of a knob.

Re: New Subs

for sure. I learned that the first day I got my system. You can have the best sub ever but if you don't have the right box and amp for it, it will never amount to anything. Thanks for all the info! I got a month to save up for it!

Re: New Subs

Ive never been a fan of the ported boxes. Ive always had a sealed box, but having a box that meets the specs for the subs is one of the key factors in making it sound good. you can take the best sub in the world and put it in a crappy box and it will sound worse than taking an ok sub and putting it in a great box.
im hopefully gonna hook my 2 JL's up this after noon as soon an my pac rp4-ch11 comes in. gotta swap the head unit out, slap the new cd player in and fire them bad boys up. but you really cant go wrong with any JL products.

Re: New Subs

whoo hooo i finally finished my sub/door speaker install. i totally forgot how great JL subs are. been 4 years since ive heard them last. they are WAY WAY WAY better in my jeep than in my old honda. only problem i see is the box looks funny in the jeep. it needs to be longer (side to side) and it takes up a little bit more space than i had anticipated. when i get some time im gonna craft me a fiberglass box, make it longer and shallower and still achieve the same sq ft needed.

(it wouldnt let me post the pic again so i just posted the thread)

subs in and now its a Jeep! The only con about JL, the box never fits right. I just pushed mine all the way to the right and keep an emergency bag tucked on the left between the sub and wheel well.

2004wjmedic is just really nice
Re: New Subs

I'm running a JL 900/5 and the 500 that it sends to the sub is more than plenty. No funny tricks with this one.... I do have the bass adjustment knob that hooks up to the amp so that i can control it.
