PAC c2a-chy3 questions

Hello all,

I just purchased a PAC c2a-cht3 and installed last night in my wk. I am running 2 RCAs to a JL HD900/5 to wire up a sub and HAT speakers.

Couple of things I have found so far is that the remote turn on doesn't work. I had to wire to ignition switched lead for the amp to turn on. When I measured the output on the remote wire there was no voltage. Has anyone else had this or should it work with the remote turn on?

Second, the output is sub par. I have to turn the gain all the way up on my amp and still the bass is no where near loud enough. It is more like light bass fill. I know the amp is good cause if I use a loc attached to the speaker outputs on the factory stereo then the output is great.

Does this sound like a faulty unit?

Re: PAC c2a-chy3 questions

Is there any gain adjustment on the adaptor?

No gain adjustment at all. Just plugs into factory harness.

Re: PAC c2a-chy3 questions

Here is my reply to your PM...

Did you use the front or rear output on the PAC? try the eq and move it front to rear and see if that does anything. did you follow the steps in my thread posted by Matt? Turn your remote bass knob (if you have one) all the way up, same with the volume on head-unit and set bass/mid/treb where you want, then mess with the amp's gain...

And yeah my remote turn-on works great...did you unplugg the neg terminal on your battery before install?

Re: PAC c2a-chy3 questions

I did have the negative unconnected when installing. I also calibrated as listed in another thread. I found that I get very low bass until I get to level 20 then the base gets not too bad. All this with the remote all the way on and the amp gain at max.

When I was using a loc off the BA amp the gain was almost off and the bass was killer.

I am leaning towards a bad unit as the remote wire not working is odd.
