Parrot RNB6 Aftermarket Radio

Greetings,

To all my fellow Jeep owners that have the ability to upgrade to a 7 inch double-din aftermarket headunit that are thinking of doing so now, later down the road or even next year, here is something strongly to consider:

Pricing and a shipping date still have to be released.

This unit is finally a game changer in the aftermarket headunit world not because it has ability to run either Apple's CarPlay or Google's Open Auto Alliance (Android Auto), but the fact that an HD screen at 720p is now being introduced. Other car manufactures have slowly and steadily have switched their OE displays from the traditional RGB format over to some sort of HD display. For those in the WK2 section that have been following my post of these years, know already that this was one my rants in terms of being in connection with today's technology.

For me, the screen in the Parrot RNB 6 is not for watching videos, rather for clear images that it can display especially when looking at the screen on an angle from drivers seat. This going to be helpful for viewing the GPS screen, apps that have small fonts, present buttons, etc...

Alpine at this years CES 2015 show has release trims for their 9 inch screen for certain models of the Wrangler and our cousins over at RAM that do not have the 8.4 Uconnect. I have seen the Alpine 9 inch RGB screen in various installs over the last year and it will not compare to an HD screen.

The jury is still out on this unit, however, Parrot last 6.2 aftermarket unit, many consider a sleeper of an unit and it had excellent audio sound. I am sure that the competition is looking over the this unit carefully in order to respond for next years model introductions. My guess they will be introduced in both a mid and hi level units. Who knows, maybe Sony comes out with a 4K screen. There is one fact that is clearly evident is that RGB is going to be a thing of the past in car audio. If you need to upgrade right now to replace a defective unit, then get something cheap and save money for the future.

As for me, it looks like I am going to keep my Pioneer AppRadio 3 one more year or just wait for the reviews come in on the Parrot RNB6.

Best for now.
