Lightbulb Push Button Start. Anyone got one?

I know we've all seen the neat red push start button things like on the Vipers and other vehicle. I was wondering if anyone has ever put one in their WK? I know that they're usually put in some place like an electric outlet or made from factory close by the ignition, but the WK outlets would make for odd placements for a push button. Anyways just throwing it out to see if anyone's tackled this thought.

Re: Push Button Start. Anyone got one?

Yeah I'm talking about still keeping my key and then having to press the cool engine start button after I put the key in the ignition. The proximity push button start is cool but that is way too involved for me to try and get into. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to do just the push button start like I'm talking about, but I could be mistaken.

Re: Push Button Start. Anyone got one?

This guy's talking about a simple $40 push-start button. No offense to Milous or Nate, but why on god's green earth would anyone want something so godawful complicated as that "proximity" bull dookey? and at $600? At that price, every time I push that button, a mini-ho better pop out of the glove box ready for full service!

i dont understand why you want the button if you still have to start with the key?

Re: Push Button Start. Anyone got one?

Fisrt and foremost, because it's cool looking. Ignited sells them in almost any color and even with led lighting.

If I'm not mistaken, it harkens back to a time(pre-50's at least) when ALL cars came stock with them. You needed your key to unlock the door, steering and prime the ignition, but you also needed a heavy-duty button to make the connection with the starter.

It also leans toward the bad-ass because most heavy-duty equipment and fighter planes, etc use a push-button start.

I think it's a much better option than loading all the contacts into the steering column. I've had 3 cars with starter relays in the column take a shit on me and leave me stranded. Wouldn't happen if I'd had a push button start.

Re: Push Button Start. Anyone got one?

and you don't start it with the key. you insert the key and turn it enough to unlock the steering, then use the push button to start the car.

Re: Push Button Start. Anyone got one?

^ Yeah it may serve a better purpose for some but as you said, for me it's just a matter of something cool. Sure there are some vehicles with them from the factory, but not everyone has one. I was messing with an SRT10 Ram at a dealership a few weeks back that was all decked out. Needless to say when I pushed the cool red button, it sounded like a freaking aP51 Mustang fighter turned over. I've got a few buds with S197 Mustangs that have the switches in theirs and it's just a neat little touch IMO. I still can't figure out where I'd put one in the Jeep if I decide to get one. There aren't really any places that look just right for one.
