Radar Mount and Hardwire Install.

I plan on getting some better pictures tonight, but here it is I got my escort 9500ix last week and I also ordered a mount for the rearview mirror and a hardwire kit on ebay.

Rearview Mirror Mount (Sold by astronotus888)
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ESCORT-9500i...ht_3001wt_1139

Hardwire Kit (Sold by safe-n-sound1)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_7030wt_1002

I have used this hardwire kit in about 3 or 4 times. I get it with 2 leds one that is on with power and one that blinks for alert. I don't use the one for the power but you need both to have one that only blinks for alerts. What I will usually do is cut off the power led about 3in from the fuse and then cross those leads. The reason you have to cross them is it routes the voltage for the alert led. Then I tap into the ACC power outlet and route the cables though the dash and up the pillar to the rear view mirrior. This time I mounted the led inside my gauge cluster. It is more hidden and the light doesn't light up the cabin on alerts. I always mount the led my the gauges to try to attract my eye to the spedo during an alert.

As far as the rear view mount goes this is the first time using it. I have been wanting to try something to get away from the suction cups because after time they fail and the radar falls and always sets off my alarm system. With this type of mount it also gets the radar off of the windsheald to make it more stealth since you cant see it easly from the front. Another option of mount would be http://www.blendmount.com/. I didn't go with them because I didn't want to spend $90 on a mount.

Over all I am happy with the mount. To install it you have to drill two holes in the back of the rear view mirror and you insert two rubber expansion nuts and tighten it down. I was first worried if that would be enough to hold it but sure enough the thing is solid. the radar does not move at all even on bumpy roads. Again if you don't want to drill your rear view (which some with the smart mirrors might not want to) go with the blend mount.
