REC and ipod

Does anyone know if there is a way to integrate an iPod with a REC nav unit? I know mopar used to make a connector, but I believe it is discontinued now...

I just installed the iSimple ISCH73 for my REC and it works great. Its nice because you can connect either an iPod (via the apple connector) or anything with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

I ordered it off amazon for about $80

Edit: Here's a link to the kit I ordered

Re: REC and ipod

Thanks to both of you! With the isimple, can it be wired to the glove box? Also, will the steering wheel controls still work?

Svenska, do you have a link to the lockpick?

Yes, the ipod cable is quite long, so I have mine in the glove box with plenty of cable remaining. The steering wheel controls work fine with my 60gb classic, a 4g iPhone, and a 2nd gen Touch. I haven't tried it with my wife's Nano yet.

If you do want to use the 3.5mm headphone jack on another device, you'll need to pick up an RCA to 3.5mm cable (the iSimple includes female RCAs), which I picked up from Best Buy for under $10.

I looked into the Lockpick, however it didn't look like it would work with the 2005 or early 2006 REC (I believe it needs to have a backup camera hookup), which was added in late 2006

You pull the REC from the dash, unplug connectors, plug harness from vehicle into iSimple, plug iSimple into REC, stash wires (if you open your glovebox while installing, the light will shine where you can pass the iPod cable), replace REC. Once that is done, you press the Mode button on the REC until you see VES -> that's how you access the audio from your iPod.

Install took under 20 minutes and only needed a phillips screwdriver.

Re: REC and ipod

Neither the ISCH73, nor the Pac-Audio iPAC-CHY will allow you to control your iPod on the REC screen. Both of these devices are only direct wired access to the audio network.

You will only have volume control of the radio. If you want full integration, you will need to find an early build MOPAR device (which is a magic, box and a couple of cables, not just a cable).

I have the ISCH73 in both my SRT Charger and the wife's R/T Magnum and it works like a champ; much better than any of the FM modulator devices out there... AND it charges the ipod!!!

Re: REC and ipod

^^ Bob...I think you are the man I need to talk to.

I have the PAC CHY3 for my rca outputs for my amp/sub. I want to get integration of my iphone on my nav screen. I have a 2008 with the RER myGig. What do I need to do? I am sick of having to use my aux input on the front of the unit and have to use the iphone to control the songs...thanks in advance!

here is a link to my stereo install in case...
