Re: Replacing the BA front door speakers.

thanks for the help man. I'm just wondering tho, does the stock amp only pump lows to the front speakers? i mean, if we put mids in there, even with low RMS, will they play mids?

Re: Replacing the BA front door speakers.

thats interesting... my guess is that it would play regularly. I am installing my speakers into the rears today or tomorrow. HOWEVER, try and put the speaker on the front door to see what happens.

i know that the amp is a DSP digital sound processor so it may either just apply power to speakers or is set up to send only certain freqs to certain speakers.

i will use quantitative research/experiment to find the answer! :P

Re: Replacing the BA front door speakers.

Well here is the deal. the front 6x9's are full range not just subs. so all the mids are not coming out of the 3.5's. and you really don’t need to be that worried about the rms ratings of the speakers you will use for the doors. if you have a low wattage setup be more worried about the sensitivity rating of the speaker. basically if it says it is 92 db of sensitivity that means that it will put out 92 db's with 1 watt of input. so the higher the sensitivity the louder it will play at a certain wattage. the rms ratings only tell you the amount of wattage the speaker can handle not how loud it will get. does that make sense? and it is very easy to put aftermarket 6x9's or even 6.5' in the doors. just make sure of the mounting depth. can't go over 3" deep.

so are you saying putting after market speakers in isnt going to help me? If i turn my stereo on and play something, the door speakers are obviously only playing lows. I can hear it when i get close.

Re: Replacing the BA front door speakers.

the rest is right, but the stock BA front doors only play low Freqs. They do not play full range

edit: no one here thinks they are subs... they are woofers that play low-mid freq.

Re: Replacing the BA front door speakers.

actually, to be more precise

stock dash are mid-tweeters that play mids n highs

stock fronts are mid-woofers at most, but they play very low mids arguably

stock rears however are full range

Re: Replacing the BA front door speakers.

yea I misspoke also what I meant was the 6x9 in the door does have "some" mids in them. they are crossed over at a certain frequency and the 3.5"s pick up the rest of the mid to high range. and no relwarc I'm not saying that changing them won't help in fact the thing that will make the most difference in your system ( keeping the ba amp)is changing the 3.5's in the dash. You will notice a huge difference in the quality of your mids and highs with a good pair of 3.5's ( just ask o8 hemi). if you change the door 6x9's you probably won't notice much of a difference in sound because of the crossover point of the amp will be sending the same signals to the new speakers, so the same amount of mids will be played.

Re: Replacing the BA front door speakers.

Hey guys, 2009 WK owner with the BA system here. Looking to replace the 6.5s in the back doors as they really bring the system as a whole down (it bumps well, but the rears for some reason distort a lot). Any recommendations for some under $100 6.5s?
