I used only Three of Six sheets to do both of my back doors. I have another companies product on my front doors from awhile ago but will be adding some Damplifier pro to them as well.

The Damplifer Pro is GREAT!! Thick Stuff (total thickness = 80 mils) and Sticks to the door really well.

This is what arrived at my door!

Didn't get a roller with it, but I guess you have to purchase that separately...Good thing my brother had one

Heres the door with the panel off.

Before I put the damplifer on I removed all the wires and wiped the metal down with denatured alcohol.

Some on the outside

More on the inside

and here is my passanger side all done.

It was pretty dang hot outside so I wasn't thrilled to be outside doing this, but I hurried and got it done, I dont think I did to bad of a job. I will DEFINITELY be purchasing more of this product in the future!!

Go here to buy some!! >>> www.secondskinaudio.com

Are those last pix of it completed, or did you also do the large holes too? I did mine so they are completely covered solid. I also installed an 8"x8" piece of egg crate foam on the inner doors directly behind the speakers to cut down on standing waves. Did you put the stock covering back on too, I think it gives it that much more soundproofing. I ended up useing the stock baffle to cover the back of the speakers for water protection.

IMO soundproofing the doors with additional materials def makes a difference. Now on the highways I dont hear any noise from the doors, only from the rear floor are and from the front firewall/windshield are. Im doing the underside of the hood next, see where that gets me.

Re: Second Skin Damplifer Pro FTW!!!

And why do you have two metal handle things on your door, one for the door lock, but whats the other one for?

Re: Second Skin Damplifer Pro FTW!!!

Here's mine done with just a simple peel n stick rubber based adhesive membrane.

I sealed the panel so good that when I cranked the system up there was alot of air moving in and out from the small cutout for the door lock knob. I had to add more membrane there, but had to leave clearance so the knob will still go up and down.

Re: Second Skin Damplifer Pro FTW!!!

Thats them finished. I wasn't going to waste a sheet of it to just cover up a hole...the hole doesn't vibrate , I can get other materials for that. But I think its fine how it is. I really didn't want to cover up my bolts for the window regulators also since I will have to replace them so I went around them and just did the main parts that would make any type of vibration.

Maybe sometime down the road Ill get some Over Kill or Over Kill pro from Second Skin for those holes and the rest of the door.

The bars are for the lock and the handle to open the door.

The point to doing the doors is to cover all the holes to make it like an enclosure for the speaker, like a box for a sub. If you covered that large hole you will notice less road noise and less speaker distortion at higher volume. I have enough membrane that I could use it over the entire doors, but I have seen people use plexi glass or even 1/4" plywood cut to the size of the opening, slightly larger to overlap over the metal then seal the edges with the membrane. I noticed a big difference by completely covering the door panels. Just google dynamat on doors and you will see the door panels completely covered and sealed off. Kinda pointless to leave that big hole open IMO.

Good reading to get an idea what can be achieved by soundproofing:

Re: Second Skin Damplifer Pro FTW!!!

When I first installed my system I would crank it to about 46 on the stereo, now after doing my doors, cargo area, and almost done my hood I notice im only turning my stereo to about 40 and it sounds just as loud. To me that is def a very big difference.

Re: Second Skin Damplifer Pro FTW!!!

it all makes sense.

what about the weather barrier and that sticky glue stuff. do you put all that back?

this stuff: dont you need that to keep the weather out?

I'm not entirely convinced that the weather barrier serves a real purpose. What is it really keeping out? I understand water seeps down, but it's not like a running faucet, more like a drop here and there.

If you seal your doors with the deadner, then this effectively is the same affect as the weather guard.
