Anytime Rob! And you only seal part of the door or use a little deadner here and there, you could always replace the weather skin back on top of the deadner or retrofit a portion of it back to cover the exposed areas.

Re: Second Skin Damplifer Pro FTW!!!

Ive never put mine back on. If I could find some for sale though I probably would just to make it look cleaner.

Now Second Skin is offering their Damplifer Pro with a Black foil backing instead of the reflective one they have had. It also supposed to be alittle thicker than the reflective foil but they are keeping the price the same. I love it.....I need some of that.

Re: Second Skin Damplifer Pro FTW!!!

I re-installed that stock panel. When I did my doors I actually cut out the part of it that goes over the top of the speaker in the back and mounted it in there before the speaker, to keep any water from running down getting on the speaker. And the stock panel does do a decent job of sealing the holes in the doors acting like an enclosure. Helps with midbass and speaker distortion. From removing it the black adhesive was in pretty bad shape so I used more peel n stick membrane to seal the edges of it when putting it back. Why not put it back, its just that much extra sound proofing IMO.

I would not anoint the stock paper thin plastic cover any sort of sound deadner or door sealer. The idea of sealing the doors is to separate the front wave from the back wave; the black plastic garbage bag does not come close to doing this.

Nice work Will and Timmy! :thumb:

Would this benefit my stock Infinity system noticeably or would it only be worth it when I get round to upgrading all the speakers and amp?

Hmm, good question, as in im thinking what to save up for first, sound deadning or speakers. I'd go with speakers and amps. But then again I havent heard the Infinity system so im basing it on my stock paper speakers, which I almost want to say the Infinity isnt really that much better as opposed to good aftermarket speakers. To be honest I am happy with just my front componant speakers, 6.5 mid and tweeter mounted side by side in the door 6x9 opening. Hardly a difference having speakers in the rear doors EXCEPT for the passengers back there. I deleted my dash speakers alltogether. The imaging is perfect, sounds like the vocals are right up on the dash, I dont really fully understand how it could be, but it is. And as stated before you dont need to deaden the whole door, just the holes, so you can make a sheet of it go along way with good placement. I did alot just because I have alot I got for free.

Like i said previously, before doing all this sound proofing/deadening I would turn my volume up to 46 (where I have my amp gains set to clip) and now im not going past 40 because its so loud.

Paper thin??? My stock cover is pretty dam thick, prob 50-70 mills.

If anyone still just has the stock plastic on the interior door try turning the radio up full and put your hand over the opening where the door lock knob is, I bet you will feel alot of air moving from it.
