Siri Working

Anyone have some info on the iPhone 5 working (Siri) with the sound system? I have a 2013 Grand Cherokee with Navigation and can't get Siri to speak or be audible over the car speakers. I can see Siri is connected to Uconnect but can't hear anything? Suggestions or thoughts?

its a clusterfunk...

some people with 430N and 730N say it works, some say no...

It seems to depend on a few things - mainly radio type, radio software version

if you did a uconnect update since march 2012 (or bought a vehicle with an already updated radio) it actually BROKE SIRI because of a change in how Apple implemented Siri

now since then, not sure if its fixed, or what combo of Apple IOS and Uconnect software makes it work anymore...

I'll try to find out more hard details - in the meantime if you google it (uconnect + siri) you should find a bunch of different info and user experiences

Re: Siri Working

Uconnect did not "break SIRI". Chrysler has decided not to support it because of the way that APPLE handles an incoming call while using SIRI, Visual voice mail or voice memos. If you're in one of these features and have an incoming call, APPLE doesn't send a BT message for Uconnect to respond and display the "accept / ignore" pop up. You can see there is an incoming call because the radio goes into hands free mode, but there isn't a pop up to accept the call. If you think to yourself, "I can just press the Uconnect phone button" to answer the call, Apple drops SIRI (or 1 of the other features mentioned above) and also sends the call to your voice mail. During this time, your pressing the button saying "hello, hello" and getting frustrated because you can't take the call. The caller doesn't know that you're having this problem and leaves you a vm. So because of this possibly becoming a drivers distraction issue, it was decided to not support it till APPLE does something that makes it work correctly. The Chrysler Uconnect system isn't the only mfg that is having this issue either. Apple has know about this issue since the 4S came out in 2011 but haven't made a fix for it.

a uconnect firmware update broke it for some 2011 users for whom Siri had been previously working (same IOS code same phone)

so regardless of why or whos fault - its the uconnect update that made it stop working, removing support or changing your software code constitutes "breaks" -

who/why is leas relevent to the end user....especially if it worked until you updated the radio, "apples fault" or not

Also I have Siri working just fine on an older ios iphone and newest IOS iphone 5 -so it hasnt been broke since iphone 4S. Not on my 2013 durango with 730N radio at least - everything I need is working perfectly, texting thru Siri while driving over the uconnect system especially

but this does not work on a 430N in my friends 2012 jeep!? same phone/same firmware. So its the uconnect right? Logic tells me yes..

Thats why I said its a clusterfunk-
You will always have 2 sides that say "you need to change to support me" or "you're not following standards, we are" etc..

But For the end user, they just want certain things to work, and to that I say, dont upgrade anything (phone or radio) if you have features u need, and upgrade if newer features are more important or you dont already have what you need working

Certain combos of IOS Code and Uconnect code and hardware/radios/phones produce different results with BLuetooth/Siri/Texting etc - thats what it comes down to today. Everyone certifies their hardware/software at different times on diff products and it rarely if ever produces a consistent feature map

I work with Cisco, apple, and microsoft for a living and support thousands of users and devices in volatile retail and financial environments and keeping a feature working across all platforms at all times while adding new functionality and eliminating bugs all simultaneously is a full time job - literally!

what ios firmware and radio firmware can u check? and uconnect firmware I believe is unique/independent from radio version

I am curious anyway what versions yours came with. I dont buy the chrysler decided not to support it story because apple did blah blah because why does it work in one "chrysler" radio and not the other!?! they decided to support one radio and not the other? would love to hear that chrysler logic...otherwise, it should work on BOTH of our uconnect radios, or its the hardware/software of that particular model radio that owns the problem

Re: Siri Working

I have the same issue with the 2014 Wrangler Unlimited (for the iPhone 4S)...the phone connects and I can call, check address book, etc...but I can't use Siri for some reason through the car speakers/microphones.
