Re: So many choices

money isnt a concern since i still have my connections in the business, mario know the installe that i used to work with and he knows how i get with systems. if i had it my way, i would do image dynamic components, beyma speakers for the rears and if i can still find the cerwin vega flat pistons i would do just one with either zappco or hifonics amps to do the deed, and maybe a higher amp alternator and 2 batts.

Oh, well that certainly changes things. What manufacturers do you have the hookup on? Why not go with some ID stuff? Their CTX65 components are pretty highly praised.

I'm hitting the sack, I'll get back to ya in the AM.

In that case, I'd go with the SPX17-PRO components. The mids are Scan-Speak derived (very high class speaker manufacturer) and the tweeters are basically Vifa ring radiators (also a very good raw driver manufacturer). That's a very good passive component set. Also, I think you can bi-amp the set (seperate channel for the tweet and mid on the crossover), so in that case you'll want 4 channels of amplification just for the comp set (PDX150.4). I'd get whatever you want for the rears and run them off head unit power. For as efficient as they are, you'd hardly notice a difference between amplified power and deck power (given their location). The Type-X woofers perform very well in small sealed enclosures (IIRC), so a pair of 10's and a PDX.1000 would do nicely.

I've never heard them. Actually I think I did a few years back, but I can't recall.

I've read mostly good reviews about them though.

Honestly, I've never been very picky about sub woofers. They cover SO LITTLE of the frequency spectrum that my time and money is better spent on the front stage. Damn near any decent woofer in the correct enclosure will satisfy most.

Re: So many choices

No sub amp?

I'd go with a 4-channel for the front stage and a single channel mono amp for the sub. Trust me, the rears don't need amplified power.

ehh, the setup i was goin for was space savin so the amps were goin under the rear seat and the sub i was really lookin for was an 8" but alpine doesnt make a sub that small so i was gonna go with a 10" type s
