As far as I can tell (and mind you, I'm no electrician), the uConnect system is basically the same amongst all models, with the exception of the Navigation system in the Limited model and above.
My question is - can you simply install an amplifier and upgraded wiring / speakers (potentially a small subwoofer) in the Laredo without having an effect on the existing uConnect system?
I'm certainly not looking for a show car setup, just an upgraded system than what's on offer in the standard car.
Sorry if that's a bit vague - couldn't find anything using the Search function on these forums
Yes you can using a LOC device which converts the high level signals of the factory amp output into a low leveling signal needed for aftermarket equipment. This comes in the form of cables, devices and built-in to aftermarket processors. You can reference Crutchfield.com for various products.

An interesting thread currently going on is: Upgrading just the base speakers?
Many ideas about speakers and other ideas. For the JGC, it best to select a Class D amp. This type of amp is more efficient with dealing with the electrical output from the alternator, they draw less current. Today's multi channel and mono Class D car amps will produce clean sounds.
Best for now.
