Specs for the 9 Speaker Apline System Wanted for a 2011 Overland

This morning I noticed my front drivers side tweeter was buzzing. I have been looking for the specs of the whole system but can not find very much. I have been able to find the size and type of tweeter as well as all other speakers but no other technical specs such as wattages, frequency, sensitivity and so on. The tweeter is what I am mainly wanting to replace but am throwing around the idea of replacing the other speakers as well. I do not want to have to do any work with an amp or running any new wiring. I would appreciate any help on the subject. Thanks in advance.

The specs you are looking for will not be much of help. Aftermarket speakers take full range signal. Aftermarket tweeters have capacitors already stuck on them for crossover. Any of the aftermarket equipment out there will be able to handle the power from Alpine plus some. Switching speakers out to aftermarket will give you a different level of sound just because of their response and 2 way speakers having the crossover point for the tweeter. Usually that leads to aftermarket speakers sounding more clear with a bit of a boost to the high side. If you decide to switch to aftermarket, don't cheap out and go with some garbage like Boss and you'll be happy you did.

Thanks for your reply. I've got a good bit of experience with audio equipment and understand the crossover frequenies more than most peiple, I am an Electrical Engineer. I did not know if the crossovers were in the amp though. I was mainly wondering rms wattage, resistance, and sensitivity of all speakers, tweeters, and the sub. I have found that the sub is a dual voice coil though but for that especially need the resistance so I dont fry the factory amp.

What we assumed is that the SUB is a dual 2ohm cool, while there is argument on the speakers. Resistance of the speakers is around 2ohm, but if your looking for impedance it is most likely 4ohm. No matter what you do looks for speakers with sensitivity ratings of 91db or better. To go to speakers are Focals or Infinity Reference. I myself have the Reference arriving at my house today for a simple speaker swap on my 14.

I am a little confused as to why you say the resistance is around 2 ohm but impedance is most likely 4 ohm. I could point you to a website where the difference between impedance and resistance is explained (that is if you don't already know, and if you do I don't mean to offend you) but to make it a little easier, impedance and resistance are the same. By this I do not mean they should come out to be the same or are estimated to be the same, but they are the same things.

I have heard a car system with Focal speakers and while they sounded good to me I want something a little softer (without the metal dome tweeter). I was looking at a pair of JBL GTO629 speakers for the rear and JBL GTO939 for the front and I have listed the specs of these at the bottom. If I install these, should I worry about the other speakers and tweeters at all, not including the sub? Also, is the factory amp going to give them enough power? This system seems like a pain in the tail to have to install amps to power speakers.

Focal speakers are good, but may sound a bit bright because their tweeters are a metal design. If you want soft and warm music look for speakers with composite material.

Also, the amp will more than power these speakers. They are built to handle a lot so as long as your sensitivity rating is high your gtg.

I went with the Infinity a reference series. For a bit over 300$ I expect a significant improvement in sound.

Infinity 3022cfx dash
infinity 9620cx components
infinity 6522ix

If you replace the front doors you will probably want to do the rear doors also to make it balanced.

I have no info on the JBL. Only the Focals and Infinity Reference

The plan is to replace all four doors for now. The sensitivity is 93 and 94 db, which is about the highest I can find. If you don't mind let me know how yours turns out.
