If you pull back the carpet under the driver side, behind the footrest foam block, there is a black plug. I popped that out and was able to run my 0 gauge wire through there. Wasn't hard at all to do.

Installing a system in my Jeep was not hard at all. Just takes some time and patience. Hardest part is running the wires around the seats by the doors, other than that is was simple. I wish I would have take the time to stop every so often and take a few pictures, but of course I didn't. I've done a handful of my buddies cars as well, if have any questions about anything stereo related just ask. If I don't have an answer, I'll find one for you.

the adapter you have is for adding an iPod to your existing REC HU...it gives you the input to the HU so you can play the iPod through the stock setup. (I do not have one of these, but I am 99% that is what it does)

The RCA outputs (created by the PAC adapter) are run to the amps inputs...they give the sound to the amp, which in turn powers the sub. does that help at all? HAHA
Wow sorry everyone but for the Zombie digger response, but yes this does help a lot thank you lol. After almost a year from your response I am finally picking up a subwoofer this Saturday from Devlin.

Maybe I need to do some more research but I'm using your writeup as a basis for the wiring, amp, and that bass knob. The only thing I'm still unclear about is do I need that extra adapter for my REC headunit? I'm pretty sure I've heard about something that goes from your rear speaker or to your amp? Maybe I need to keep searching for information.

Re: Stereo Install

you are referring to a LOC = Line Output Converter (it intercepts the signal from any speaker wire and sends signal to head unit). With a PAC adapter, you do not need a LOC (one or the other, and from my research PAC is def the way to go).

Engine Bay:
2 gauge power wire through firewall (05-07 easier than 08+)

Drivers side wires:
2 gauge power wire
Remote turn-on lead for amp (power on/off, through PAC)
Bass-knob controller (phone wire)

Passenger side:
RCA(s) ONLY - I guess there can be interferrence from the power wire...PITA but I have not had any signal issues and again ALL research said to do this

That help? And no more of this next year crap...get er done haha

Thank you man! Very helpful. Let me find that +rep button after I post this.

It looks like the only thing I'm gonna have to figure out is if I can run that PAC adapter with my pre-existing ipod adapter back there. It would suck if I couldn't use my ipod with my new system. And it will definitely be within the next couple of weeks! Can't wait to get this thing together finally!

no prob...keep us posted. IIRC there should be no prob running the ipod interface with the PAC, but not 100%...I think Nate has that setup...

where is the cheapest place to get the ipod interface cable? anyone?

08HEMI, your WK is one of my favorites now. It's my favorite street Jeep. It's so clean and simple and by for the classier rims to put on the WK. Just like the Vipers. And you're welcome.
