so i have a 2005 grand cherokee and a 600 watt powerbass amp with a diamond audio 10..I still have the stock head unit and have always had it. I had to get a bass knob because when i turn the volume up the sub stays at a constant level no matter what the volume is. The audio stores have all told me the only way to fix this is by getting an after market head unit..are they correct???..if so please help me with yalls personal thoughts on which head unit would be the best for my 05 grand
The sub stays constant? Im really curious how the amp is wired to the headunit. I had mine before I got an aftermarket and the sub went up and down with the headunit volum no problem.
yea something is wired wrong. there are many people that retain there stock units and add a sub with no problems. but a nice shiny new deck never hurts. LOL
^ What wc said. Im wondering if its spliced off the back of the head unit since the BA system only increases and decreases volume directly form the amp and the headunit essentially does nothing but act like a source unit with a data cable to tell the amp what to do.
Yea that doesnt sound right to me either. How are you getting your signal to your amp? I am guessing or hoping RCAs....are you splicing into your rear speaker wires for that purpose? The only thing I can think of is they have a splice wrong somewhere that feeds the signal to your amp. May only be splicing into one of the speaker wires instead of both...
You want to go to the amplified wires the other wires are getting a lower steady wattage that goes to the amp, the amplified wires are what go to your speakers.
i have the same problem right now... does any one have the wire diagram to a rer mygig???? i really dont wanna drop the coin to fix the problem... also will it help the sound of the sub?
how much would it be? and could i install it myself? its not like a bass knob right? the bass will actually be able to go up and down accordingly to the volume? If this is a simple fix that will be so helpful
