If i got a universal Sirius tuner so i can use it with a pioneer BUS, where can i find the stock antenna to hook into?

#2 ·
ok WK jeeps told me where i can find the satelite module. How do i interface with the stock wiring? is it plug and play? (yeah right)

can i just cut and splice connectors?

#4 ·
no i have one. I just need to interface it with my aftermarket stereo. I got the little "universal module" and the BUS that goes to the head unit. I just refuse to run a second antenna.

as you said, wkjeeps showed where the factory box is.

get in there and I put my new universal tuner right next to the factory one, the antenna wire plugged right into the NEW sirius box.

then i ran wires to behind the dash where I put my Pioneer/Sirius interface.

awesome, sounds easy. Thanks!

the antenna wires switched over perfectly. we literally pulled the connector out the factory box and it clicked right in. then I ran NEW wires from the sat tuner to the front where I had my Pioneer Sirius interface mounted behind the dash. running a wire from the sat box to the front is too easy. just be careful with the BIG PIECE of trim that goes from the hatch to the side door. my installer cracked that piece. it was a hundo to replace that dang piece.
the rest of the trim going from side door front door. it all just pulls right up.

which wire did you run to the front Rob? is it the antenna wire? or the one that goes to the BUS? the one i got with the tuner is like 2 feet long... i need an extension.

while you're here rob. i got a PAC steering wheel interface and the thing is telling me i need another module to interface with the controls? is this true? i couldnt find anywhere to splice wires.

sirius:

my new tuner came with a harness that I ran to the Pioneer Interface, which is behind the glove compartment.

like i posted, the antenna cable from the roof plugged directly into my new sirius box in the back'.

i bought everything PAC. ill get you the parts. there was some notes somewhere like you said BUT they were wrong with the parts I had. I only needed the one interface,.

i have this
http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SWI-PS-Pioneer-Steering-Interface/dp/B000AXW7SA

and then my main harness is this one:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18010_PAC+C2R-CHY4+-C2R-CHY4v1-.html

on the main harness page is this note:

The PAC C2R-CHY4 allows for the installation of an aftermarket radio in 2005-2009 Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge vehicles utilizing the CAN Bus data system. The C2R-CHY4 is packaged with both Chrysler harnesses for an all-in-one radio replacement solution. The interface provides a data controlled accessory output wire and all the necessary output wires for a navigation radio install. When retaining the use of the factory steering wheel controls, the C2R-CHY4 provides a SWC Output connector for direct plug and play connectivity to all SWI-modules (SWI-X, SWI-JACK, SWI-PS, SWI-ECL2).
Replacement interface harness for select Chrysler vehicles with CAN Bus
Compatible with amplified or non-amplified systems
No longer requires the use SWI-CAN Module to retain steering wheel controls Retain Accessory Power (RAP) 12V Output
VSS, illumination, parking brake and reverse trigger output
Digital amp turn-on

ok....

sirius: the 21 foot cable is an antenna cable. I have the factory antenna, it plugs into the stock sirius box out back. I can plug that into the universal tuner, but between that and the BUS, they dont reach...

for the steering wheel controls, i have the top steering wheel interface control. How did you install the control? mine says it needs another module, am i missing a wiring diagram somewhere?

sirius:

i did not buy or make ANY cables. I just checked all my reciepts. a harness of some sort attached my sirius box in the back with my pioneer unit in the front. it either came wioth sirius or it came with the pioneer thing( i doubt this one),

from amazon: What's in the Box
SiriusConnect SCC1 Universal Vehicle Tuner (with mounting plate attached), Mini-magnetic antenna with 21 cable, tail cover and alcohol pad, SiriusConnect Interface Cable (Male/Male), Mounting screws (x4), manual

your saying the interface is very short?

apologies for the 21 foot cable thing.

there is one possibility. I bought my headunit used and MAYBE there was a wire like that in the box.........IDK because he gave me lots of stuff and i would think the PIoneer thing would have come with it. there is that SLIGHT chance.

tjhe PAC like i did

OR THE METRA?????????

the PAC CLEARLY SAYS you do not need another interface just the one you bought.

#20 ·
i guess mine is the metra, im sorry i didint clarify when you posted that up higher in the thread. so now i need the PAC adapter? ...balls.

#21 · (Edited)
who knows if the metra even supports that. check details on the metra.

on the sirius:

i pulled up the trim on the front door side to see where the cable goes. about halfway along the side it does then head off under the carpet towards the center of the dash. i cant see any further unless i pull the glove box out. according to crutchfield, the cable that comes with sirius is 63 inches. still would be short for my setup best I can tell. so IDK.

#22 ·
ok back to the sirius problem...

this is frikin obnoxious, there is only ONE extension cable for this thing and its $50?? how the crap did you guys interface with your stock antenna and have enough wire to get to the head unit??

Rob, i dont think you follow what im saying. You keep talking about the 21 foot antenna wire in the kit, thats the aftermarket antenna, its not an extension. I want to use the stock antenna, a cable that has about 2 feet of play and terminates in the trunk.

#24 ·
Thanks man, My buddy actually saved the day. He had a 10 foot IP BUS cable! it means i can set up the system like it was intended.

in my jeep, i removed the rear pass side panel.

my FACTORY sirius box was hanging on the side under or just behind the third window.
we mounted my new sirius box right next to the old one.
removed the factory antenna wire from the FACTORY BOX and placed that same wire right into the SCC1 new sirius box. then i sed zip ties to attach that sirius box as far fwd as possible.

then i had to run the 8 pin cable to the front. it runs along the rear door opening, then along the front door. about half way between the dash and the rear of the front door opening, i can see the cable head off in a diagaonl direction towards the left side of the center stack. I know we removed the glove box and the Pioneer interface is somewhere back there.

here is the pic under the rear door.

this is the supplied cable that goes from the sirius box to the Pioneer interface.

here are 2 from the front door.

just behind my little light I can see the cable veer off under the light and head to the dash. sort of appears its headed towards the left front side of the passenger area.

yeah, that long wire that goes from the tuner to the Pioneer interface is what i didnt have. but now i do! thanks! now i know how im going to route it! its going right where my sub RCA's are.
