Subwoofer Question

On a WK. Would it be possible to mount a 10" JL W1, in the rear left cargo area panel? Using a MDF mounting ring to set it out a little. I never took the panel out but I'm thinking it might fit. Also could I tap the BA amp speaker output to feed a mono amp speaker level in? Everything would be right there behind the panel.
I have the BA system and it sounds decent but I'm looking for a mod to do.
Any ideas?

u may have to go with a q logic box for something like that? or custom? but i doubt you can mount it on the panel itself?

jkram - are you looking to attach an MDF (or equivalent) ring to the quarter panel and run the sub IB (infinite baffle)? If so, that is not a very good idea. A very sturdy/stable baffle is important to a drivers performance... and MDF ring and some 1/8" plastic is hardly a capable candidate.

If you are looking for a stealth solution check out the JL enclosure. It's pricey, but it gets the job done. I also have an enclosure that doesn't take up too much space (mostly the "negative" space in the cargo area) - you could also do a half portion of the enclosure and run a 10" sub that works well in .5-.6 ft^3.

I saw the Stealth Box for the WK, and it got me thinking. Very expensive. I haven't taken the panel out so I don't know the depth in there. Matt you got a good point about a sturdy baffle and a tight enclosure.
Well I'm looking for ideas. I hate to use up the cargo area with a box.

BTW Matt you got me started on the subwoofer idea with your stereo build.

Expensive is right. There's nothing wrong with going IB, but the requirements (minimum) are a very sturdy baffle and a lot of open airspace.

One idea I keep tossing around is cutting part of he passenger side quarter panel off an incorporating a fiberglass constructed enclosure with it. Kind of like the JL Stealthbox, but use some of the empty space behind the panel.

There is no inexpensive solution to what you are looking for. Not without giving up some cargo space.

BTW Matt you got me started on the subwoofer idea with your stereo build.

Ok, I will check it out.
BTW I started an enclosure, and taking pictures. If it comes out bad no one will ever see them. However if it looks good I'll post the whole project here.
