Check out the Clairion line, and PM me if you want one. I can get them for less than a grand to you with shipping. And it is a 7".

I think SeattleWK just got the Clairion one too. I'd check with him to see how it's holding up.

is there a hack to fix that? Is this a good head unit? (if i dont mind not having the navi)

No hack for it. Other than the "In Motion" bypass. That's not a WinCE based unit.

It's an okay unit. I just don't personally see why you should spend the money on a screen and no nav.

Re: Top Reccomended NAV systems?

Bro,
I got the DNX7140 on pre-order, Had it installed and I love it. Ipod, XM, Nav, and bypassed the in motion thing. When the Jeep goes the Kenwood stays.....

Re: Top Reccomended NAV systems?

Again, most double din nav systems are going to have the same features. What really set them apart from each other is the GUI.

In my opinion, the Garmin navigation interface is far superior to anything else on the market... that would mean Kenwood is far superior to anything else on the market.

Go to a store and play around with them, then draw your own conclusions.

I'm still waiting to get my amp to get it all hooked up, but I like it from the little bit I've used of it (model VX400). What I like is that it was a low base price ($365) with the ability to add on features as I see fit. So to add on the navi module, it's $200 (probably less online). But I've always liked Clarion's decks and the GUI works for me.

Pretty much yeah, what Matt said. Gotta go to Best Buy/Car Toys/retailer of your choice and play around with them. But definitely use www.google.com/products to find the cheapest online price from a reputable retailer. It will almost always be cheaper than a bricks and mortar store or Crutchfield (which is still great for research and product info).

Re: Top Reccomended NAV systems?

Im in the market to buy a new one as well after mine got jacked. If youre buying fom Best Buy, wait atleast a month or so becasuse kenwood and Pioneer are coming out with new ones around that $1000-$1400 range with navi.

Look for the ones that dont require to havee a cd in at all times, thats a PAIN. idk they might have discontinued that or grown past that already though. lol

Single dins dont tend to break as often, or least the motor doesnt for the flip out.

I used to have the pioneer AVIC d3 it was good i loved it, i got it for $650 as an employee at Best Buy, the marku ups are nasty, so it is always good to wait a couple months and then it will drop.

The garmin system that kenwood uses for navigation i think is more customer friendly and easier to use compared to Pioneer.

But i would stick to Pioneer just my opinion.

well crutchfield can be better when buying because they hook you up with free install gear with your purchase. This is usually the case with head units.
