I had to cut the door speaker wires at the factory amp and run wires to the deck in order not to have to run wires to the doors. After that I had sound and was able to run wires to the amp and Im bangin now.
I would like to know if anyone has had better luck with running subs with the factory stereo and amp though?
I bought a PAC adapter to get the RCA for my amp/sub with my stock MyGig and BA amp and it was a PnP set-up. the adapter gave me two sets of RCA's so if I decide to replace the door speakers and add a better amp I will have the RCA for the 4ch amp. right now I am happy with the BA/Infinity speakers and sub...BUT thats mainly b/c I want rims so I will rock the stock speakers for now

Sure comes highly recommend and surpasses expectations

Greatly appreciated! Just gotta get this next paycheck, pick the enclosure, and look into the aftermarket deck option. Any links to a suggested deck would be great - again, not looking to spend all too much but not trying to waste money on some POS.

Re: Total Newb Question

A member of another Jeep forum suggested RE subs. Any experience with these or suggestions for what RE sub(s) might match my amp. Still very interested in the JBL GTO 15" but want to be sure I cover all bases before I make a final decision.

Re: Total Newb Question

Mostly good things from what I remember hearing about them... probably out of your price range though.

Speaking of which, what is your budget?

Ah gotcha

I'm hoping to keep it all within $400-$500 if I have to buy a deck, of course less is great.

Re: Total Newb Question

So you need to buy a wiring kit (4 gauge), sub, box and deck? You can prolly get the sub, box and wiring for $250, which would leave you $150 for the deck...I have had good experiences with Alpines, and I know they have entry-level decks under $150...or maybe a JVC to match your amp? IDK anything about JVC though...does eclipse still make good decks?

Eclipse is out of business

A new deck also entails the purchase of a wiring harness and a dash kit. The harness is 100 bucks (I'm pretty sure) and the kit is $25. Plus the cost of the deck.

I say skip the deck.

Ouch ya, I'll pass on the deck.

So all that's left to pick is the enclosure.
