Uconnect video from USB

Has anybody figured a way to play video (.mp4, .iso, .vob or etc) from a USB on their 8.4 Uconnect? It will play music but can't figure out if its possible to play video somehow.

Re: Uconnect video from USB

Someone did it with a lockpick using the lighting to HDMI then HDMI into AV. But the quality was alright

No need for Apple adapter or lightning to HDMI converter in the Wi-Fi version that works with both iPhone and Android :

That enables smart phone mirroring but I'm looking for a sort of video software that would install onto the Uconnect hard drive that could play media directly from USB flash drive or SD card.

seems that guy works for that vendor and just posts that in answer to any question about video.

anyway- doesn't seem at this time that there are any software hacks to get the computer to playback video from a usb stick just yet.

you probably want to follow this thread:
new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

seems the guys there have just recently figured out how to get a stable software hack of the stock system. There's no mention of them figuring out how to get other other apps (like a video media player) on the system just yet. But looks like they would be the closest to the point without adding hardware and another device for playback. If anyone is going to pull it off - they look like the front runner at the moment.

Thanks for the link, I agree these guys seem like they would be the closest to getting something like this working. I've actually been in contact with them and they sent me to this site looking for answers. Sounds like there just isn't enough interest in a product like this even though it seems easier than different wiring harnesses and etc. I'll follow that link and see if anything comes about.
