WK2 Aftermarket Radio

Hello Forum Users,

I have a 2012 WK2 Laredo with the 130 RES unconnect base radio. I am thinking of upgrading the radio to an aftermarket unit. I saw this radio on ebay and I was wondering if anyone has installed something like this. It looks like the seller sold seven units. If this radio works with uconnect (as the seller is claiming), it is a super deal for the price. Thank you for reading my post and your feedback. Have a nice day.

Re: WK2 Aftermarket Radio

The picture of the radio looks nice. However, the internal guts of these is mostly garbage. Moreover, it seems to be another cheap Chinese takeoff. For the same price, you can a much better sounding radio from one of the major bands at the price. And with Crutchfield, you are backed up with them.

Since you have a 2012, you have wide selection to choose from and more ways to improve the sound if you had a 2014+ Uconnect radio. I am not sure of your budget, but Parrot has radio coming down the road that brings major advances to the aftermarket headunit world. Besides able to work with CarPlay or Google OAA, it has an HD screen in a 720p format that will give crisp images and details. A good example is the GPS.

Best for now.

Re: WK2 Aftermarket Radio

I have the WK2 with RER. Not the best but the speakers and kicker seem fine. I just hate hard lining my iPhone into the system. Just wondering if there are sub $600 units out there and if I lose my RER I probably lose the amp described in the features? I haven't had an aftermarket product in almost 20 years. Theft was the biggest issue back then. It hard to use the 10GB internal drive on the RER trying to remove songs or making playlists. Super time consuming. That and the Garmin nab feature is woefully outdated.
