'02 underhood light question

Anyone know if when they deleted the underhood light in '02 they left the connector in the harness?

I've got an '01 parts jeep and I'd like to swap the underhood light onto my '02. I'd like to use the factory connections if they exist. I tried to trace the wires on the parts Jeep but they appear to go under the cowl before hitting a plug. It's a high of 17degF out today so not really wanting to tear into anything right now. Just trying to figure if I need to come up with a power source or its as simple as plugging a connector together.

From what I can tell from my limited tracking, the connector would be up under the cowl cover so not readily visible. I've traced the wires from the light on the parts Jeep down to the right right hood hinge and then they tuck under the cowl cover. I haven't yet found the connector so I suspect its under there somewhere. I then suspect the wires join into the harness with the wiper motor wires and leave the cowl into the engine bay just to the left of the right hood hinge. If the connector's not there, I'll route the wires across the cowl and then into the engine bay and into the underhood fusebox.

My only concern with doing that is I'd like some sort of safety built in so if the switch in the light fails on, it doesn't kill the battery.
