Unhappy 2000 WJ Alarm/Anti theft will not shut off!

This happened for no apparent reason. Its been running fine for the two months that I've had it.

Right now the jeep is sitting with the neg lead off the battery.

The alarm will not go off and it will not start.

I dont think that this is a factory alarm because there is a little red led bulb coming out of the dash just behind the steering wheel.

There are two wires hanging out of the fuse bus and when they were touched it stopped the problem and it ran but the problem is back and touching the wires now has no effect.

Somebody please help.....Thank you!!

Re: 2000 WJ Alarm/Anti theft will not shut off!

When you have a non factory alarm installed, it will become difficult to give any good help. The factory alarm will not prevent the engine from starting, that is the SKIS.
First to shut off the alarm, did you try to unlock the door with the key instead of with the remote?
When you try to start the engine, the engine will crank normally but not start? It will not even run for a few seconds and then shut down again? Does your jeep have the transponder keys for the SKIS system and is a key symbol lit on the instrument panel?

Okay. I now think that this may be a factory alarm. fk i dont really know....theres a red bulb coming out of the dash behind the wheel. Is that a factory feature?

So..good news..thank Gd...with the ignition turned on (not running) and alarm going off and I cross the two wires that are coming out of the fuse bus, the alarm stops and the jeep will start.

There is a little toggle switch for the two wires that someone pulled free so I'll solder those back to the switch because it appears that I will have to use it all the time now.

Sill...if anyone has experience with this I'd really like to hear all that I can.

Thanks in advance.

The factory alarm has a red LED in front of the steering wheel, quite close to the windshield.
What is the color (base color and stripe) of the wire which is coming out of the fuse box? The toggle switch you are talking about is most probably a non factory part?
