2001 4.7 Radiator ID

Hi Folks,

My rad has started to leak and I'm in the enviable position of having the possibility of two types of radiator used in the 2001 model.

Does anyone have or know a clear way of identifying the two different types as it's almost impossible to get a tape measure to try and measure the core and I can't remove the rad as I need to use the vehicle until the new rad arrives.

I did read somewhere about the oil lines being on the right side rear of the radiator?

Thanks,

Paul.

Re: 2001 4.7 Radiator ID

There is one type for the 4.0 engine and an other for the 4.7 engine. The 4.7 indeed uses two fittings on the right hand side tank aft side for the transmission cooler lines. MOPAR P/N 52079883AD, or SPECTRA PREMIUM / COOLING DEPOT CU2336. I used the SPECTRA on my jeep and its good for 3 years now. The radiator cap sits on this same right hand side tank.
The 4.0 radiator has the cap and cooler line fittings on the left hand side tank.
See attached picture for the MOPAR radiator for the 4.7.
Rockauto has both radiators, but also other brands available.
