2001 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 Questions

Hey Guys,

Anything I should look out for on this Jeep with 167,000 miles?

It's been adult driven and the miles are highway miles for the most
part.

Going to take a look at it tomorrow, anything special I should look
out as in problem areas?

Any problem with Ethanol in these old ones?

Thanks

Re: 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 Questions

Check if the airco system works on drivers and passengers side ( hot and cold). Broken blend door hinges are common.
Do the key dance and check for any stored fault codes (ignition switch off/rund three times and leave in run at the third time. The odometer will show DONE when all ok, or any fault code(s).
Check the engine oil dipstick for evidence of moisture in the oil and check exhaust for sweet coolant smell or white smoke when engine is hot. If it was overheated before, then this could point you toward a warped head or bad head gasket.
Check the transmission fluid level and color/smell of the fluid. Fresh fluid is red with a sweet smell, but it becomes brownish when not changed for a long time. When its black and/or has a burned smell, you better stay away from it or must be prepared for a tranny overhaul or swap. Check during a testdrive if it shifts fine.
Ofcourse with the amount of miles you can expect play on bushings and steering components.
