Question 2003 Jeep Change Down/Up Problem in corners

Hi Guys,
Wonder if you guys have any experience of my problem. Noticed over the last few weeks my Jeep 2003 Grand C has been having problems when turning corners... especially rleft hand corners at any speed but especially slower tight corner.

Basically, if you are on the throttle during the corner, the transmission tries to change down and up all over the place... it's like a sensor is out somewhere.

In a straight line it's perfect changing when expected etc, it's just on corners or pulling around on a left or right hand turn... the gear box drops a gear and it revs and doesn't know what the hell to do.

The only thing I can do at momet is be so soft on the throttle and tootle to stop it doing it... it's like it's losing traction but isn't... very hard to explain.

Any ideas guys?

Did you check the transmission fluid level already?Did you do the keydance to check for any fault code set?

Re: 2003 Jeep Change Down/Up Problem in corners

I would start with pulling the associated wheel and tire after jacking the front end up at full turn so the wheel is in the position that you experience the problem. Then get under there behind the rotor and check for any loose connections, wires, etc, or binding. It almost sounds like a 4WD issue and not a trans issue. Like it's calling for more power and then downshifting to get it. Maybe a bad wheel speed sensor?

Re: 2003 Jeep Change Down/Up Problem in corners

The so called key dance is nothing more then a nickname for the way to retrieve the fault codes from the PCM using its onboard system: switch ignition off/run three times and leave in run at the third time. Odometer will show DONE when no faults stored, or a fault code(s).
What four wheel drive system your jeep has?

Re: 2003 Jeep Change Down/Up Problem in corners

It could be the TPS which is going bad, but why only acting up during turns, i dont know.
