2004 WJ owners...Child car seat?

Hello,
My girlfriend is expecting and I noticed that my 2002 JGC doesn't come with the LATCH system in the seats. Only the hooks on the roof. It says to use the hooks on the roof and then a seatbelt on the bottom. I know the LATCH systems were mandatory for cars after 2002 but since mine is a 2002 it was probably made in 2001.

I was wondering if 2003 or 2004 WJ owners can chime in and say if they have the LATCH system. And is it bolted to the frame under the seat or is it apart of the seat itself?

Here's what I'm talking about if you need a pic...just a bar by the rear seat belt clip that the car seat can clip onto instead of using a seatbelt

Thanks!!
-cody

I've got an 04 Laredo and the latches are there attached to the seat back near the bottom and adjacent to the hinges for the seat back on both sides.

So if I were to find an 04 in a junkyard would I need the entire seat or just something bolted to the frame?

Mine looks to be part of the hinge/latch assy for the seat backs. Don't know if the bone yard will make you buy the whole seat back for the hinges or not but I see no reason why the hinges wouldn't fit an earlier WJ.

Re: 2004 WJ owners...Child car seat?

Thanks for the input guys!! Ill try and find a cheap seat in good condition in a junk yard. If not, just do the seatbelt method cause I'm not going to buy a seat from the dealer lol

Thanks again
